Poll question: If Arnold wins in California...
I want an explanation from those who pick the top option as to why they don't think the same about Massachussetts, Rhode Island or Hawaii. No one would be saying this crap if Simon had won.

(note: saying the Democrat can win with a Republican governor is not endorsing Arnold)

3. Remember 2000
They only need to get close. The Gov. of Fla coordinated voter removal (70,000) roadblocks and harrassment in predominatley poor and democratic neighborhoods, and outright fraud.

These same machinations via a republican governor put California in play.

11. The scary part in all this
In 2000, the FL Legislature voted to give all the electors to Bush even if Gore won the recount by arguing that the state legislators pick the electors from the pool of voters.

It was scarcely reported in the media at the time ( I remember reading one article on it and it was buried in the back.)

If Arnold is elected, it could mean that California could do the same thing, thus giving California's electoal votes to Bush and thus negating the voice of the people.

Another reason to scrap the electoral college.

23. Any state could do it.
By using Diebold to ensure a Republican legislature. Maybe not 2004 but maybe for Bro Jebbie in 2008.

5. These results are quit interesting given all the posts
warning of election theft in California. There appears to be a silent majority of people who know how very, very, unpopular Bush is there.

10. I understand Eloriel...
The fix is in.

If you want to start an PM convo on what we could do when we are stripped of our electoral action, PM me. I have no clue. Other than the recent scandals I am very pessimistic. :(

19. then what about Massachussetts, Rhode Island and Hawaii?
Can't those be stolen like Florida?

(nevermind that Florida was a pure toss up state, unlike California or any of the ones listed...)

There of course is also the connection to Bush-with the leaks and the disapproval as of late over Iraq.

There is also the association with Rush and that can't do well for someone that already has low polling numbers among hispanics over his stand on 187 and 209. There's also Rush's drug problem, so that probably won't help.

Then of course there's the problems with the womanizing and the suspected nazi sympathizing that he's had to deal with in the last two days.

There's the pressure for McClintock to drop out like he mentioned, so the support from conservatives must not be all that strong.

And now Bustamente' has said that Swarzenegger's conduct constitutes a misdemeanor (sp?) with regards to groping women like he did.

A lot sure changed in the last couple of days. I mean, Swarzenegger was planning out his first 100 days in office today and then all this happened. I mean, this happened in a single day!

Oh yes how things have changed. Oh how they have changed.

24. Be careful what you wish for, Ahhnuld
you just might get it ... and, really, besides Gray Davis, who in their right mind would WANT that job??? I don't think it will do * any real good. The state will almost certainly still be in bad shape and then it will be the repugs' fault.
