90. Crooks and Liars has it. Here it is:

Cafferty Goes Off on the Administration

Jack has been a lightning rod of late and he excoriates the federal government for the way they have handled this disaster.

Video-WMP

Cafferty:...I'm 62 and I remember the riots in Watts, I remember the earth Quake in San Francisco, I remember a lot of things. I have never, ever seen anything as badly bungled and poorly handled as this situation in New Orleans. Where the hell is the water for these people. Why can't sandwiches be dropped to those people that are in that Super Dome down there...This is Thursday...This storm happened five days ago. It's a disgrace and don't think the world isn't watching...

25. He said New Hampshire "Union Leader" seriously conserv.
completely called out this admin. and deservedly. He said he received more than 500 letters today before they even got on the air today, and not ONE letter said anything good about how this Federal Govt is handling this administration... he had a fifteen word string of adjectives reiterating the common thread in these letters describing the horrific, inept, etc etc. government approach to this tragedy.

44. I read that editorial. Here it is:
Bush and Katrina:
A time for action, not aloofness

AS THE EXTENT of Hurricane Katrina’s devastation became clearer on Tuesday — millions without power, tens of thousands homeless, a death toll unknowable because rescue crews can’t reach some regions — President Bush carried on with his plans to speak in San Diego, as if nothing important had happened the day before.

Katrina already is measured as one of the worst storms in American history. And yet, President Bush decided that his plans to commemorate the 60th anniversary of VJ Day with a speech were more pressing than responding to the carnage.

A better leader would have flown straight to the disaster zone and announced the immediate mobilization of every available resource to rescue the stranded, find and bury the dead, and keep the survivors fed, clothed, sheltered and free of disease.

Thank you Jack, many people have been waiting all day for the Media to listen to what people on the ground were pleading for. Thank you for highlighting the plight and the lack of action. This isn’t about politics it’s about those peoples lives.

You are a man of honor indeed. The media needs more people like you, you are a credit to CNN.

To CNN, we need more Mr Cafferty. In a deeply divided country this Conservative gentlemen can cut through the divisions and talk about what he feels strongly about. He is a credit to your organization, and he is exactly what America needs right now.

I have not had many nice things to say about CNN for some time, so I thought I would write with something positive.

The media needs to change and Jack may just be part of the way forward.

76. Very good. I will add my bit.
And I was pissed at Wolf Blitzer when they cut back to him, too. Acted like Jack had just done his usual thing ... nothing worth commenting on ONE WORD.

Cafferty also went off on Congress, which I was happy to see. Told the details about when they returned from holiday during the Terry Schiavo business and didn't seem to have any trouble making it back there in HOURS. This time it's been FIVE DAYS, he shouted, and they MIGHT make it back to vote funding for FEMA to handle Katrina when? This is THURSDAY, right?! Tomorrow, MAYBE??

"Guess it's all about your PRIORITIES," he said, or something much like it.

Jack Cafferty may be an old conservative in most ways, but I've heard him spit out the grumpy truth enough times to give him a fair listen anytime.

THIS time he seems to be the ONLY person in the MSM who is willing to put his career on the line and really blast the administration and the institutional rescue operation going on right now in the WORST disaster -- not ONE of the worst, the WORST disaster ever to hit this country.

I was posting to another thread when he came on ranting, and I mentioned hearing him there, but had to find a thread dedicated to Jack's very welcome rant. :)

I've been in tears and near-tears a LOT the last few days, and I've been so angry it scares me to feel it inside me. This is the FIRST time I have wanted to shout "YES!!!" about what I heard someone say on the TV news. Well, except when Shepard Smith was shouting at the anchor at Fox to tell the authorities to GET SOMEONE OUT TO THAT OVERPASS and gave the name of the freeway and exit so they'd have the exact location. Wonder if anyone went?......

As one very pregnant lady at the SuperDome said on camera, 'It's just not right. It's just not right."

26. This "is the end of little Rico" -- OMf'ingG--Cafferty, he's a knee-jerk
conservative/Republican. But you know what, that's not the same as a Freeper or a Neocon. He obviously cares and notices a profound injustice. I'd say * and the crew need to start the big sweat right now. If Cafferty is doing this on CNN, that's really bad pub. Since Cafferty thinks this, that's unbelievably bad news for *. We may be talking about an "impeachment bandwagon" before this one is over.

Thanks Cafferty (I always wanted to like the guy but cound not; now he has carte blanche in the future for this one).

unreal than the next.

On Edit: my email to him:

This afternoon's "Cafferty File" was one of relief beyond belief. In these times, these UNACCEPTABLE times, you must be commended, applauded and thanked for saying the God's honest truth. You see, you believe the American people can handle the truth and so you give it. Thank you for your trust. I wish others in your position would find the courage to speak truth to power. It is truly American. God Bless You, sir.

39. When they say 'the guvermint' that's right-wing message shaping
The goddam guvermint never does anything right with all the tax money they steal from decent Murkins.

You can bet that when personal donations and corporate tax-writeoff largesse come in and, as noble as that is, only covers 1/10th of what it takes a society to overcome a disaster like this, that they will showcase it as the personal, private-enterprise salvation that represents the way it should be in Murka. Again, implicitly instead of the goddam guvermint stealing your tax dollars and then failing.

I want to hear this placed squarely on the Republican ethos that is gutting America.

79. Yes.
Shaquille O'Neill and Heinz Corporation both donated $500K to relief effort. Now I know Shaq is really, really rich, but surely the Heinz Corporation has more money, or at least money-in-kind (food products), that they could contribute than what one wealthy private citizen contributed.

83. Also remind them other countries want to help but have not been
invited to by that a*hole in the Whitehouse. I was just listening to a radio show here in Toronto and people are furious that he won't take our help. It wouldn't have taken much effort to drop in pallets of clean water and food without even using the airports. I am sick of hearing help is coming it should have been done yesterday at the lateset.

42. wtf! Where did they find that guy who's complimenting Bush?
They must have found the only person in all of New Orleans who had something positive to say. "I got a warm shower, bla-bla-blah. Bless George Bush and the mayor." He's in clean clothes, etc.

How much you want to bet this guy is a "ringer" - dug up by Rove.

88. My note to CNN feedback
It's not the goddam 'guvermint' that is failing. It is Republicanism controlling this government that neglected this threat as surely as they ignored the reams of terrorism warnings coming in from everywhere prior to 9/11.

When is CNN and the rest of America's ideologically insulated journalistic caste going to evolve to understand that America is more than simply a framework for the exercise of greed?

You've not only failed to grow beyond the journalistic integrity of 40 years ago, but you've actually regressed, now ignoring stolen elections, supporting failed trickle-down theft from the middle class and poor, turned terrorism negligence into American heroism, supported stunningly dishonest wars, and now you call the government failed? No, that would be the kind of people that you've strenuously helped position to run this government.

Jack Cafferty and the rest of CNN did more to ensure that New Orleans happened than most anybody else you can point a finger at. Put a mirror on top of your broadcast image so that you can quickly switch between the results and the cause of what America is becoming under what has become of your banal excuse for a profession.

That city has to work, and work right, or everybody is effed. Nothing is working right for these poor people in NO; everything has broken down, and Bush is not moving! Cafferty's mad as hell.
