Now I am convinced that homeland security's plan was........
Martial Law.
That is the only thing that would explain this clusterf**k.
Their whole plan for the security and response to an attack, whether by them or someone else, was to declare martial law. Then they could do what they wanted, deny reporters and public access, start the propaganda spin machine and then take over.
There never was a real plan to deal with any big disaster. It's obvious.
Mark my words. They are going to learn from this. The devil is in the details and they didn't think of having scanners, and other info, go out over the internet. Now I understand that a homeland security guy shut it down. Let me know if I am mistaken.

They are going to learn through this disaster and make modifications to their schemes.

Have I gone over the edge?

1. Maybe True
That might be why we don't want any help with the aid.

2. I'm not saying that they will go to martial law now.......
What I'm saying (probably badly) is that they got caught with their pants down by mother nature which was never a consideration. They have a plan for a national disaster, ie. attack, and that plan was martial law.

6. I, too, believe they were planning something but got blindsided
by Mother Nature. I think this has thrown a monkey wrench into all of their wretched plans. They were hoping to manage both their own little controllable disaster and the media coverage of it, but the climate had other plans.

Now they don't know what to do, and it's totally obvious. They are laid naked before us, and they are sad, crooked little men.

3. What's the point of declaring martial law after
everyone is dead? People are dying because they are not being rescued. The government could have declared martial law days ago if they had gone in there to help. They left people unaided, and those people are dying.

What good does martial law do them now?

4. Amended opinion.
Someone on another thread suggested that the neglect of New Orleans could trigger riots in the South, and then the government would declare martial law throughout the South. (and I suppose, eventually, the entire country)

With that as a possibility, I can see how the federal government would "benefit" by declaring martial law.

5. I think you may be spot on, cause there are sure as hell no *plans* now
that should have been in place & ready to go.

This is beyond words....

No I don't think you've gone over the edge....not at all...

7. Another point to hammer and explain
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 03:21 PM by tibbiit
They have spent 4 years spinning the fairy tale that we are safer because they are in charge. They made a big show of plans for attack and how we would all be safe. We (at DU/Blogs) knew it was just that... an empty show for the sheep.

I think you are spot on about the plan.
Now they are caught out ... hopefully in the nick of time!

The curtain has been pulled back.

I think this is the one.

8. No, actually there plan is global destabilization
this what they've done in Iraq and now they are sitting back in their bunkers and are going to watch it happen here. Don't expect them to lift a finger to help.

"Stability is an unworthy American mission, and a misleading concept to boot. We do not want stability in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and even Saudi Arabia. The real issue is not whether, but how best to destabilize," Micheal Ledeen
