CNN-Cafferty on "elephant in the room" Up Next(minorities/poor)
He lays it on the table. No one wants to talk about it.

The fact that these are minorities and poor, and what role it has played in this response.

3. Did he speak his piece? I heard the teaser for that, then it seemed they
never got back to him.

I don't know as I'd be counting on him not to start spewing Freeper racist diatribes against "the looters". Maybe on the other hand he'll point out that the needs of this minority-majority urban center have been shafted by bush during and before this hurricane--with resultant mass death.

4. Just sent Cafferty this email
"Are We Ready To Watch People Die?"

How can the President and Our Government stand by and watch people die right before our eyes knowing that each of these hurricane survivors followed directions, and depended on Governmental Officials to meet their basic needs. They are literally dying and now the Governement Officials are giving instructions that the dehydrated, weaken survivors walk out on their own? Unbelieveable.

This is the height of negligence, incompetence and frankly callousness on behalf of President Bush right on down. State and Local officials have done all they could to bring the urgency of the conditions to the attention of Federal Officials and have been overruled and ignored in many cases.

People on the ground, including reporters from CNN have being covering this non-stop for four(4) days. President Bush has failed to act decisively, speak clearly, and demand results. It is a disgrace, and yes indeed the world is watching --along with all those precious voters who voted for him in the last election who wish today they could change their votes.

Please do address the elephant in the room. This is a good example of what Republicans mean by "compassionate conservatism." These are primarily the poor and minorities who had neither the money nor the means to evacuate prior to the hurricane. It is clear they have no place at the table when it comes to receiving assistance from the Bush Administration. And when finally shamed into acting, Bush officials wait until the situation is beyond remedy.

You can bet if this type of situation had occurred in Washington DC we would never see a repeat of what is going on today in New Orleans.

Please continue to speak out.
