. . . to possibly avoid some of the crazy/ antisocial behavior that we're now witnessing? I think any city will have a number of addicts. New Orleans, with its music scene, warm climate and relatively poor population might have more than its share.

Our federal government has consistently insisted that high spending on war and security are needed to keep us prepared for eventualities. Yet this is another example where we are NOT prepared. Despite how you might feel about addicts, it would nonetheless be in the public's interest to avoid the antisocial behaviors associated with coming off strong drugs.

1. You think that what's happening there is due to addicts gone wild?
I think it's hungry, dehydrating, desperate people!

2. you're right
When I hear of armed bands marauding, I think of addicts. You're absolutely right, though; when the situation gets primitive enough, even rational people will resort to what they have to in order to prevail/stay alive. A few thousand desperate addicts makes the situation even worse, thoug.

3. If people are going after dugs,
I bet it is more likely to be insulin, blood pressure meds, antibiotics...the things that people did not have time to grab or they ran out in the process. I know if I were in that situation and a family member needed meds, I wouldn't hesitate to hit the drugstore amnd get them what they need.

4. Absolutely! They absolutely should have done this. They knew

beforehand because they patted everyone down at the Dome for guns, drugs & alcohol. They knew this was going to be an issue. They should have stocked up on joints and methadone and built a secure site away from all the hospitals, etc. They could have controlled traffic & criminal activity that way. But no - they like it when the "evil" suffer. Well nobody cares about drug addicts...it is the victims of drug addicts that such a clinic would have helped.

Bush is a sadistic asshole and so are all his lieutenants.
