think I blew it--called OK rep John Sullivan about little or no action in
in NO and MS....emphasized the slowness of response

called Tulsa office.....asked he demand that fed govt get its act together

mentioned W on abc 'no one could anticipate levee break'

....on ground WWL reports of little or no FEMA presence

....foreign papers stunned US can't act more quickly

BUT I was upset and disorganized....young woman in office took name and phone # and said she would pass on my comments.......

hate to admit this is my first phone call (basically Sullivan is 1000% religious wrong supporter of W) ...... my letter to Inhofe opposing Ashcroft's appointment got a response that A was super good and being smeared by liberals

I will know to be better organized in next phone call

(weird: Inhofe's Tulsa number is not complete on his senate site)

1. Grassley (R-IA) gave me the Bushbot laundry list...
"All that's being done is being done."

Why isn't Congress in session, right friggin' now?

3. I got the laundry list
from Voinovich's (R-Ohio) office too, I just spoke over her and said that what is happening and what the government is saying is happening are two different things. She shut up and listened to me.

4. You did great!
You came off as sincere and personally affected. You showed empathy, a quality typically lacking in government offices. Don't make it your last call.

5. I think you did great too.
The fact that you called and had all these thoughts going through your head shows that you are an American who has been deeply affected by this. I call my congress people all the time, but I totally lost it when I called this afternoon. By the end of my conversations I was crying for these poor people.

By the way, they have a formula for congress, media etc, For every person who makes the call to them there are 100 who wants to call but doesn't. That is how they calculate what is popular etc.

6. Don't worry so much about the style
The content I'm sure got across to the young woman you spoke to. People are p-i-s-t mad about the government's ineptitude, and even if you weren't the most articulate caller ever put on God's green earth, the fact that you cared enough to call will register with someone in Sullivan's office.

You have resolved to do better next time, and I have every confidence that you will!
