Sweet Jesus, I can`t believe what I just saw on MSNBC.
I didn`t think I could cry anymore today.

MSNBC just showed a live shot of an elderly African-American gentleman, wheelchair bound, double amputee, being dragged through deep water by another African-American gentleman. It was enough to make me sob. Those poor, poor people.

country that can't get aid and those people help. It is mind boogling. Like a bad dream. 3 days later and they still haven't rescued or even gotten aid to these citizens. People in this country should be ashamed no matter what their political affiliation. If they think it would be any different for them they are just fools.

6. In New York it WAS different -
Military & state police had moved into the city by that evening. By around midnight they had blocked access at 14th Street and residents were required to show ID to get through. State troopers were stationed on the street corner. By morning snipers with automatic rifles were guarding the Javits Center and other sites.

7. Yeah, not to minimize the sufferings in New York that day, but
the contrast is stunning.

Should we be surprised that investment bankers rank higher on the Bush list of priorities than poor people?

8. Not to mention 9/11 happened before Bush got to redesign FEMA to
his liking. The part that really rankles me is that they told people to evacuate then left them standing there without any idea as to how to do it. Didn't take into consideration how many couldn't for various reasons without help. No communication, no transportation just unreal.

11. well, to be fair
the devastation in New York City on September 11th was limited to 16 acres. THe entire city of New Orleans is gone. You can secure a small section of a city with a few troops, but to secure an entire city takes tens of thousands.

Hell, we have 60,000 in Baghdad and we can only control 20 blocks.

10. this is exactly like a third world country
in the sense that the difference between economic privelege literally means the difference between living and dying, not just varying degrees of comfort.

5. I wish these poor people knew how hard we are trying
to get them the help they need. They must think that no one knows what is going on and that no one cares. It is breaking my heart. I too thought I couldn't cry no more and than you see something and it is all over.

14. And on WWL some state official is blabbing on...
about "rebuilding businesses"...he kinda chased the health/medical guy off the stage when he started talking about the local hospitals being in trouble, etc...
Rebuilding is a wonderful idea...except their local customers are dying in the fucking streets right now so maybe SAVING THEIR LIVES FIRST might be a good idea, asshole!

"Louisiana is not under water, part of NO is..we want business back online".

AARRRGGHHHH!!! Rescue the dying, and starving survivors FIRST!
