Which is most important at this time? Food and water or money ?
I 've heard several people, including Bush I think, mention that the best thing to send is money. Even if they money, they have to buy food and water, don't they? But, what is the most immediate need?

1. The idea is to send money to officially approved
charities so they can buy food and water for the people who need it, since there's nothing available where those people are.

Of course, there seems to be a glitch somewhere in that system, since it seems nobody's frickin' in charge down there.

6. Elizabeth Dole set up the American Red Cross so that fifeteen...
...cents of every donation dollar ever reaches intended victims. Salvation Army takes donated funds for any special purpose cause like this and adds it to their general fund, so all trace of monies disappears. New charities that have sprung up are totally unregulated and have no other oversight then their words. I can not personally trust any of these faith based charities, sorry.

4. Relief to address basic needs of victims...food, water, dry clothing
...medical care and possible vaccines from water borne diseases, sanitation, infant and elderly care, hygiene, temporary housing, protection against exploitation crimes, evacuation to safe places where all of these are immediately available. This will be for all residents of New Orleans not just those who were in the Super-dome. Like the Iraq War, Bush has NO post-hurricane plan to deal with the devastation, not even contingency plans from HLS, the National Guard, FEMA or any other Bush/republican reorganized governmental agency.

Their plea now is that everyone from across the country send MONEY...CASH....to charities and no accountability or regulation as to how that cash will be spent or used is in place. Sorry, but I don't think I'll contribute to unknown charitable groups who may provide just five cent to fifteen cents on the dollar to the victims.

5. Water first, then food. Money way last for the people, first for helpers
Water is needed for survival more than food is. All money will do is buy food and water and a problem is there is none so it may just get you robbed and killed. Send money to places that are buying food and water. Don't send water to these places as money is much more easily transportable to them and THEY will change money into food and water.

8. Looks like if they delay the food and water there will be more dead,
then they won't need as much money. This is so sickening.
