Just donated $100 to the American Red Cross for Katrina
I challenge everyone on DU to donate something. We need to help these people.

3. Already donated. Had trouble using their website, and the
Yahoo pages set up for Red Cross donations -- kept getting redirect and error messages -- so finally tried the 800 #, which was busy when I first called, but I was able to get through more quickly than I'd expected.

4. I had so much trouble getting the donation page to load that
I mailed off the largest check I felt I could afford today.

Actually, it's a GOOD thing that the donation page is slow. This means that a lot of people are donating.

7. I think lots of people are donating--but the money needed is going to
exceed any effort that we have ever seen.

5. I did the same yesterday
Normally I believe true acts of charity should be anonymous, but in cases such as this I think mentioning it might encourage others to donate.

Gonna call the local ARC office, too, and ask about donating blood. Haven't heard if they're doing it in this area. Local media is shamefully weak on reporting stuff like that.

6. Yeah, I usually don't advertise my charity either, but this is urgent
PEople need to donate. We've got to make sure that the Red Cross has funds to help these people, including one person I haven't heard from yet.

to the United Jewish Communities (http://www.ujc.org/content_display.html?ArticleID=161563), but there are plenty of reputable organizations to which anyone can make donations...

22. Took needed supplies to large truck today
My car was loaded down with things from home and stuff I got from the store.

While I was there, two marine corps vets trashed bush and the administration for their piss poor response. It was surprising in very red Bristol TN.

The NJ National Guard are asking for donations of bottled water (Cases only). I will drop some off tomorrow.

I am also waiting to see if there is gonna be a DU fund (there was talk about it earlier in the week), if not I'll donate more to LDS.
