8. good question
I also wish he'd ask why they don't open up the Convention Center and at least let those people who are exposed to the blazing sun have some shade. From the footage, it's locked up tight and people are are on the sidewalks directly in the sun. That can't be helping people who are already dehydrated.

9. A veteran MSNBC photojournalist said he's never seen anything like this.
He's been shooting the TRUTH at the Convention Center. He says it's getting very dangerous, and someone needs to get there with food and support.

He says the attitude is good at the CC, people are behaving, people are supporting each other. But they are starving, dying. Dead people lying all over the place. Saw people dying. The photojournalist said "I couldn't take it." They just want food and help.

Harry Connick Jr. is the only person "in authority" who came to talk to the people in the CC and tell them he'd try to get them some help. Harry Freaking Connick Junior.

11. The photojournalist said people were expressing shame that they stole
to feed their children who have no food. They told him they did not want to steal, but they had to to get something for their kids to eat.

These are the "animals" that the Freepers want "shot on sight."

16. Them I can Forgive. What do you expect?
We have watched Rampant lawlessness in the White House for years now. The people go to bed in comfort of society and the fortunate ones wake up in a perilous jungle. Wrought with many dangers and with no help in sight. Only promises of help that is not delivered.

So now we are supposed to crucify them for their one moment of weakness? NO! The ones that can say I stole, it was wrong, and I'm sorry. It is They who truly deserve a Second Chance to be untarnished and productive members of our society. In easing their fears, wiping away their tears, and lil extra elbow grease. I think they will become polished and shine onward as Americans.

I would hate to think that the Republicans are putting designs on a Slave work force to rebuild New Orleans for Bush's Robber Barons.

14. Ron Reagan ended his program with a montage of the faces of desperation
with Billy Joel's ballad "And So It Goes" playing over the sad images. I am just BAWLING.

And So It Goes

"In every heart there is a room
A sanctuary safe and strong
To heal the wounds from lovers past
Until a new one comes along

I spoke to you in cautious tones
You answered me with no pretense
And still I feel I said too much
My silence is my self defense

And every time I've held a rose
It seems I only felt the thorns
And so it goes, and so it goes
And so will you soon I suppose

But if my silence made you leave
Then that would be my worst mistake
So I will share this room with you
And you can have this heart to break

And this is why my eyes are closed
It's just as well for all I've seen
And so it goes, and so it goes
And you're the only one who knows

So I would choose to be with you
That's if the choice were mine to make
But you can make decisions too
And you can have this heart to break

And so it goes, and so it goes
And you're the only one who knows."

15. It's right off the highway.
CNN was showing an aerial view. The Mayor was thinking about walking a caravan of people over the River. They thought it would be a 2-3 mile walk. Some people could do it. Not everybody - sick people - for instance might not be able to- but others could.

I don't know what they would find on the other side of the River - but it sounded like a good idea.
