Time to revive the New Deal for the Gulf Coast
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 05:07 PM by Orlandodem
I saw this elsewhere. Can't claim the idea but it is a good one.

Americans look fondly on the New Deal and the New Deal president. Mr. Roosevelt would be so proud if a 21st century Dem called for a new Civilian Conservation Corps to rebuild the city of NO and the rest of the Gulf Coast.

Suggestions:
1) Must be US Citizen or legal alien and resident of impacted state.
2) Ages 18-50
3) Given FEMA shelter
4) Guaranteed living wage and health care
5) Differentiated pay based on skills/abilities.

Also, it is time for someone to step up and inspire Americans to come up with a Manhattan Project for Energy. We need to eliminate our dependence on the world for our oil. It is a matter of national and economic security.

We need to get out front on this as a party.
