remember Schiavo?
I was just thinking of how this situation compares to the Schiavo debate.

Remember these right wingnuts kept going on and on about how it was against their 'values' to let her die and they couldn't even give a definite answer as to whether or not she was actually living!! Certainly having almost no brain left cannot really be considered living. With Schiavo, I don't think she did feel pain or if she did, there certainly wasn't a way to tell.

Now we have all of these people in NO screaming for help, who actually feel pain and what does the govt say? They say, we'll be there in a few days.......

In this day and age, it just seems a little ridiculous that it takes 3 or 4 days to get help to these people!

1. I remember a lot from those days, some of which would not be
beneficial to note here. But yes, the Freepers went on, the GOP went on about how this 1 person could posibly go without food or water. But they're quite content for a city to do it.

2. Remember how a special session was called on a Sunday night
for the Schiavo situation?

For thousands of Americans dying without hope, they're waiting until the Friday following the storm.

Nice.

3. They didn't really care about Schiavo either, just her PR value
No PR value for the Christian right in dying poor people

5. The wingnuts certainly dropped everything and rushed to Washington...
... to intervene in an attempt to save her life and appease their base of wingnuttery.

No such luck with the victims of Katrina. I doubt we'll see many of them give up their Labor Day to pass funding bills, or make sandwiches for food drops...

6. She may have been a vegetable but a white one, and her parents
had real "family values." What's there not to understand? We value human life, even when there is little life left there, as long as it's the right life, that is.
