I won't say where I work - but I would challenge you fellow cube rats to get yours to do the same.

8. my company has set up it's own relief fund,
and will be covering all of the administrative costs, as well as matching 50 cents to the dollar donated. Not too bad...

10. Yep. Not ALL companies are heartless exploiters of humanity.
Just those running this country.

11. My boss matches all charitable contributions up to $500 per quarter.
Too bad hubby got laid off last November & my contribution funds are very diminished.

14. Sounds great, but...
It's really just a gimmick to get you to give money that is more valuable to you than theirs is to them. Every dollar that you give is like maybe 1/2 of one cent to them in comparison.

Ive seen this with companies that Ive worked for too.

If you are at a publicly traded company you can figure out just how little they are giving in disparity to the amount you are giving.

For a quick equation just take the company's annual revenue and divide it by your annual salary. Thats how many times more money you are giving than them.

Companies love this kind of smoke and mirrors shit.

You might say hey at least it's something...and my answer to you is NO IT'S NOT! Its a way of giving very little and making it seem like alot.

If you still think its a great deal I will offer you the same deal. I will donate 1/2 of one cent for every dollar that you donate.

15. I asked about efforts by my company today
Asked the boss if they'd said anything about setting up a donation station as they did after the tsunami. He said he hasn't heard anything about it as yet which makes me very angry - our customers and employees are compassionate and generous and would certainly raise some good money.

16. my dept in Palm Beach County gov . is working out a deal where
we can donate 8 hrs of our vacation time to go direct to United Way for Hurricane Relief. Since we work for the taxpayers we can't 'match ' the donations but it is an easy way for most of us to make a fairly large contribution.
