5. he was pissed
he was almost stuck in New Orleans and thanks god that he had the $200 to take a taxi out of NO.

Said that there were only a handful of Guard there.

He is completely shocked at Bush's cowardice and incompetance.

13. Well, purportedly. He, himself, said he'd voted for Bush twice.
It was "John, in Albuquerque"...

But, whether he did or not, he was definitely ranting at Bush's incompetence and regretting his having voted for him. Initially commented on Bush's saying no one could have predicted the levees breaking.

Exclaimed, in regards to Bush, "I can't believe what a coward he is!"

He said he and his wife had been in NOLA on Saturday, as tourists, and were told to get out of town. He was on the phone Sunday fruitlessly searching for a rental car, and ended up taking a taxi to Baton Rouge. (paid $200)

He was enraged that, while still in NOLA, he heard the "authorities" telling people to be sure that, if they didn't leave, to have an axe on-hand -- in order to break through the roof. He was yelling "they KNEW this was coming!, and they did NOTHING!"

Some choice quotes from this caller...

"How the hell are they gonna get out!?!" (in regards to locals)

"When we were in the taxi cab on the way up (to Baton Rouge), we saw a handful of (National Guard) trucks."

"I fear a major terrorist attack in this country, because *THIS* is the response we're gonna see."

"You just don't want to believe that something so incompetent can be in charge of the United States government!!!"

"(bashfully) Sorry for yellin'..."

7. I heard the last chunk of his call then.
Did he vote for Bush both times? If so, he sounded really pissed.

12. I love what he said about "we just don't want to
believe something so horrible" or words to that effect.
He's now clued and kudos for having the balls to admit it.

I honestly think that many people support the dude because otherwise they'd have to admit they were wrong: that they'd been duped.

Pridefulness keeps them form morality.

11. That was a great call.
It and the one before it from the man in Chicago who managed to get out were amazing.

Someone's got some 'splainin' to do.
