FEMA, natural disaters and terrorism - do you feel more secure now?
Think about it - we've been told over and over by this fear-mongering administration that terrorist attacks on our soil are a definite possibility. We've also been told that ol' Georgie Boy has made us safer.

Are we safer?

What if this had been a terrorist attack? What kind of emergency response could we expect in that case? I see no reason to think the response would be any quicker or better or more efficient - and remember, too that we all knew this storm was going to hit. Usually, you don't have warning of a terrorist attack. Presumably, then, we could have had a head start with preparations for disaster response with this storm (though I've seen no evidence of such except for the strapped resources at state and local levels) but would not have that in the case of terrorism.

So how are we safer again? :nuke:

1. He*l no we are not safer!
With having created the "Homeland Security" department none of this crap should be happening. We should have been ready to go and have had all the necessary help in place BEFORE Katrina hit!! We are worse off than we were before, in my opinion, and my heart is aching for all of these people.

 :grr:

2. I feel LESS safe than ever before!
Don't tell me they never planned for something like this? Or do they have a plan but are INCAPABLE of implementing it?? I don't know what's worse!

3. I didn't feel very safe before, I feel far less so now.
If this had been an actual terrorist attack instead of a Bush-exacerbated natural disaster, we'd all be Totally Fucked.

"Um, we didn't KNOW terrorists were going to strike. It's going to take a week or so to get our relief efforts fully ramped-up and delivering aid to everyone who needs it. We'll rise above this thing, and America will be stronger for it."

BushCo should -- all of 'em, every last one of 'em -- rot in hell!

4. "We never dreamed that a hurricane could be used to destroy a whole city"
Just remember, the world is a safer place without Saddam.

5. What's worse is that the clusterfuck of a "relief" operation
has shown the terrorists that if they cause something big, our own government will end up killing twice as many people through their own ineptitude.
