Why gas prices differ so much in same place
FYI: A reporter says independents usually buy their gasoline on the spot market. Gas bought in this market is usually the excess supply the majors don't need that they bought off the futures market. Spot prices are super-high right now because there's no excess.

That's why you see the indies, who are usually 5-10 cents cheaper, now charging a lot more than the name brands. If this keeps up it might run the small distributors out of business. The majors meanwhile keep raking it in.
