What Will the Next Shun Clark Scandal Be?
What's the over/under on the next issue why Clark isn't a Democratic candidate? Here are two suggestions:

1. Since Clark retired as a four star general from the U.S. Army, the next DU "kick Clark out" scandal will be this: Everyone knows the Navy is the BLUE branch of the military. Why didn't Clark join the Navy if he was going to be a Democratic candidate? Was he always that anti-Democratic? Not only is he from a "red" state but he wasn't in the "blue" branch of the military!

2. Not only is Governor Mike Huckabee (Arkansas' Governor) all dressed up to go kill deer in the picture on his website, but he's...gasp...A REPUBLICAN! How can we ever trust a Democratic candidate for President who comes from a state with a Republican Governor? And one that hunts deer? It's all a conspiracy to weaken <insert your candidate's name here> being orchestrated by <insert Bush staff member's name here>.

Any more suggestions?

1. Kevin Bacon might be a Republican,
and we ALL know that everyone can be linked to Kevin Bacon, so Clark MUST be a Republican!

2. I don't consider any of the Clark stories scandals
I think they're just stories about a candidate none of us really knows much about.

I don't think any of them are about "shunning" Clark. But they do make a difference to me, and the Clark supporters should try to be a little less defensive.

It's very difficult to argue that there's something wrong with reporting and discussing these stories, imo.

After all, this is an election, remember? No kid gloves, no special treatement.

I'd say the same thing for the Dean supporters' defensiveness. I don't see anything wrong with any of the Dean stories.

4. I Agree
I was attempting to inject a little humor into all the diatribes about Clark not being a registered Democratic voter in Arkansas today. WAAAAYYY TOO INTENSE!

I COMPLETELY agree that we wouldn't need all these additional rules if people just toughened up some. I don't have anything against ANY of the candidates; maybe that means I'm not invested enough in my candidate, but I tend to see it as a virtue. I certainly have some negative feelings about other candidates' supporters around these parts as I am certain there are those with negative feelings about people who support my candidate. Oh well...we're all here in an open forum...it goes with the territory.

I hope none of the acrimony that has gone on, is going on, and will go on in the months to come will sour anyone here from supporting the eventual nomninee. If so, I'd suggest staying away from online forums in the future.

3. Just keep your eye on Drudge.
He's taking a rare hiatus from Clark, but just wait.

In the meantime, here's yet another demonstration of the tremendous prowess of GOP statistical knowledge and skills, courtesy of GOP.com

"September 30, 2003
CLARK LEAPS AHEAD THEN FALLS BEHIND
Sharpton Leads Clark In New York State"

I won't go through the statistical fallacies about these polls, but the headline is truly for those who want to believe.

5. Polls Are So Darned Cute!
The main emphasis of my job is statistical consulting...polls are so funny! All those cute little bar charts and pie charts and not one bit of useful information!

7. The NY poll is for 9/15 to 9/18. Clark hadn't declared yet...
This week's Quinnapiack (SP) poll has Clark leading all contenders. Clark leading in CA too. I'd say quite impressive for two weeks as a candidate.

8. Clark is an amateur and expected to make mistakes..
What's Howard's excuse? Oh yeah. I remember. Much like the other rich frat boy we are trying to depose (well - some of us are), when he makes mistakes he denies and points the finger at his accusers.

9. What will be the next attempt to avoid facing up to Clark's dubious
candidacy, by laughing off all valid criticism, & pretending it's just silly conspiracy theory?

11. Clark is one of several Dems that can dethrone the Chimp.
According to the polls,Clark has the best chance.

Another question for purists should be: Do you want Bush for four more years?
