One voter at a time..drip by drip..California
I've made it my goal to convert a few voters each day to no on the recall. I start with casual conversation and then I start on my points. My parents, my sisters, my in-laws, the folks at the conveninence store, neighbors, whoever. It's working. When I start on the facts, they start opposing the recall. It's not about Davis but about whether you want Arnold as your Governor.

So far what works the best is do you want a Governor who abuses women is working best. Thank you Arnie.

Let's share success stories!!

1. I've turned almost every Republican I have spoken to around on the recall
I have made it clear that we have the signatures to recall whomever wins the recall, that changing the California constitution will not be easily accomplished, that the debt is 8 million dollars, that stupid one cent sales tax temporarily enforced would eliminate the rest of the debt and that the workers compensation costs they are paying did not go down during the last reforms, and were a result of carriers taking funds put in reserves investing them into the larket poorly and losing.

I've made it clear that instability is the worst thing for their business, for commerce and that they can only count on more of it.

I have actually had many many republicans tell me they are voting no.

I am in Orange County and san Diego quite often so this is not an isolated incident.

Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 08:04 PM by BEFOREATHOUGHT
I just started to pass out page one of the LA Times story on Cars; at the bottom is the link for the full story. I just got out my Yellow pages, I will email this to Woman organizations. What are you waiting for?

I talked to a Freeper, who said he would never vote for Arnold.
Oh yeah by the way great job :)

3. I had a success today....
Where I work, there are generally two types of people-- those who are ineligible to vote (H1-B VISAs) and everybody else is a Freeper. They kind of tease me about being a Dem and all, but every once in a while I guess I make some sense.

One of my female co-workers is a pretty moderate freep, mid-fourties (as old as my mom), who's been talking a lot about old Arnold lately. I told her "You might want to reconsider your gubernatorial candidate, because Arnold just admitted to sexually assaulting six people." I showed her the LA Times. (She won't trust any of my "lefty" news sources, probably watches Fox news at home or something...) Immediately she said she had to find another candidate! I guess it REALLY IS the sex stuff that bothers her. She says McClintock is "too conservative" and she was complaining about how all this damning stuff comes out right before the election, I managed to remind her about Bush's DUI...

But really she's about the most moderate of the Freepers here at work. One guy I work with is like a super freep, he saw my Dean button and said "that's the one we want" and all that. He's convinced Hillary is going to run, in fact I can't remember ever talking to him without Hillary being brought into the picture, he's got a sever case of brain rot!

5. People won't admit to your face that they are going to vote for Arnold
It is embarassing. But once thay get in that anonymous booth, I bet many will vote for him.

6. The Repubs I have talked to about this
My husband: He's not going to vote, thinks the whole thing is a crock, and will sit out.

A client: He's a devout Christian, can't imagine voting for Arnie with his sordid past, is voting NO on the recall because he thinks it's a waste of time and money and will lead to more instability.

Another client: Well, he's not really a Repub anymore, just waiting until after Oct. 7 to officially switch parties to Dem so he can vote for Dean in the Calif. primaries. He's voting NO.

Seems that the more intelligent Repubs I know see right through this and while they may dislike Davis, they are embarrassed by the Arnie thing.
