1. I hope gas prices will push everyone over the edge. THEN
there'll be some sort of action. Bring 'em on!

14. Too little, too late. Americans know they've been screwed and
who screwed them. Believe me, people on the streets are angry.

6. But I don't want the action to wind up with more dead people. ** will
issue orders of "shoot to kill" anywhere people get together and start getting "dangerous".

2. When the number of dead becomes known
...and the full scope of the disaster and death begins to be appreciated, I think rioting is a possibility.

place, and so is HR 418 which grants Secretary of Homeland Security the ability to waive all laws ("necessary for the construction of the border fence"... they say. Remains to be seen: To me it looked more than all laws, period), PATRIOT II and whoknowswhatelse.

Quite the contrary. I think the government would welcome rioting...

7. I am sure the gov't would welcome it. Which is why we need to
figure out how we can be pissed off and still keep our heads all at once.. otherwise people will start getting disappeared for incenting violence or shot for appearing threatening.

19. The government doesn't have the forces
to maintain order in one convention center in one city.

Martial law requires forces to back it up - and evidently our government doesn't have 'em.

23. Oh I think it has the forces if it wants to have the forces. If any other
city not currently destroyed like NOLA is goes up in arms, there will be a mess of police and military around to clamp down. count on it.

to Biloxi, or Gulfport, or Mobile, or Waveland, or Pascagoula, either.

How're they gonna do it to New York?

25. This occurred to me last night too.
If they don't have enough national guard to save NO, they certainly don't have enough to send to my city to keep me and my neighbors from rioting.

Bummer for them.

9. Something's going to happen.
Yesterday, while grocery shopping, I couldn't help but overhear conversations about the hurricane response and gas prices. Everyone was mad . . . elderly people, singles, young mothers with little kids. The grocery line was a major bitch session.

11. We are perched on the edge of a precipice in this country. I do not think
there is enough Kool-aid in the world to simmer things down again. People are gonna start going postal.

18. I'll bet this could be heard almost anywhere in the US.
I have never heard so much universal anger over these two situations.

Our pocketbooks and hearts are both taking a hit and Bush has no good answers.

15. i tell ya one thing
last night all hell broke loose in the breakroom. my democratic buddy got into with a rethug over the fact that we spent billions andwe are not safe. ghe brought up the fact that if a terrorist blew up a nuke or bio weapon we would be just as screwed as those in new orleans and the rethug couldn`t answer back. some rethug asshole comes in a bar where my wife works and she got so pissed off at him the owner made her stay away from him ( we have known each other for years). there is a civil war brewing across this country among those who support bush and those who don`t. in my 40 years of "political life" i have never seen the country so divided between political and personal lines.

17. I got a "message" from on high back in 2000 that "said" if **
won the court battle and took office, we would have the worst war we'd ever seen. I took that to mean nuclear WWIII, but now I am more worried about a second civil war. And with the death toll of the last one being 618,000, it would have to be a hell of a war this time to take the title of worst ever.

20. I hope not. If the Democrats will offer America a GENUINE alternative
to the free market hell we see on display in New Orleans, maybe what you fear will be avoided. We all know there are values greater than the dollar. Things don't have to be the way they are at the moment.
