3. Yeah, and Bush had "Operation Enduring Vacation" just before
that and Cheney still has "other priorities" just like he did in Viet Nam.

4. It's bad alright
but the first disaster that led to the long list of disasters was the day Democracy died at the hands of the U.S.S.C. 12/12/00.

6. Well, don't you know the LA governor and the mayor
wouldn't let them in?

They were just powerless to do anything until the governor and mayor said it was ok. Damn those local officials! Interfering with the federal process again! Maybe one of these days the federal goverment and FEMA might actually be able to wrest some power and authority out of the hands of these god-like local officials!

:sarcasm:

17. worst disaster in history?
that's kinda stretching it. a bit american-centric anyway. worst disaster in us history more likely. i would have said 'american history' but that does a deep disservice to native americans.

18. I'm sure those people crushed in the cars in the California freeway
a number of years back might take comfort in the fact that they were not in the worst disaster in history.

Someone should tell Chertoff that there's this book out, "The Pessimist's Guide to History" . . .
