Rather blunt message from a friend working to restore New Orleans:
Please people

If you know someone or a family that is planning on returning in here, please stop them.

There is no infrastructure here to support sustainable life and there is no gas to get them back out of here when they find out how bad it is here.

Please, please, please, pass the word. Do not come back here until told it is ready.

It is not safe for not only them but they create a further problem for all agencies already stretched to beyond human capacity.

The work I have been doing here for example is barely enough for Emergency communication and many many gaps.

1. If you are going to HELP:make sure bring enuf for yourself & to leave
Enough food, enough water, enough medical supplies, enough gas to be able to leave or you will become another stranded person dependent upon the system to help you. Get a BIG vehicle, one that will hold enough food/water for you and lots of extra gas because there are gas shortages there, long lines, and the last thing you want or need is to join those in need. Take more than you think you will need for yourself, then see if you have room for more for others.

It didn't say "Bring lots of stuff", it said "DO NOT COME".

It's not that hard to understand. Regardless of how much stuff you bring, you'll be in the way.

3. the guy who runs jefferson parish
said the same thing last night. there is nothing left-if you drive in there is no gas to get you out and no one to help you ..he went on about the fact that there is nothing left...

4. This madness had to have been planned. Halliburton already has first
bid on the blood profits again. NOLA is RICH, but populated by poor. The B*/Cheney's are well aware of that. 25% of the oil production and a major world port city in war time? Now with martial law imposed because the citizens were starved to death for 5 days? Its not just the fecal material and dead bodies that stench in NO.

9. Sorry, when there are too many 'coincidences' passed off as mere 'chance'
then they are no longer coincidences. They knew a cat 3 minimum storm was coming anyway by as early as Friday. How is it that Taiwan successfully evacuated hundreds of thousands just recently during a typhoon? It was intentional on at least one level. Probably many more...

That's where the Feds screwed up, because all scenarios had at least 100,000 people still in New Orleans even in the best circumstances. THAT'S why their failure to move faster is inexcusable.

My point was that no added destruction to the city was needed by some conspiracy, as everyone knew it was going to be flattened and unlivable anyway, and it has been flattened exactly as all the experts predicted - levee failure followed by toxic soup and the collapse of infrastructure and services.

12. They made NO plans to get the 100,000 out because they were
SUPPOSED TO DIE.

Then, big surprise to the haters, the 100,000 showed true grit and managed to fight their way out of HELL.

if you have the resources to stay somewhere else it is a lot easier on everyone involved. Unless of course you are going there to do rescue work and clean up.
