3. I hope you are right, but those are worthless polls
watch them shift the blame to the state authorities, and watch the media shift. I do NOT trust the corporate media

7. Well, people who get their news from the internet are at least.
There has been some good cable news coverage on this crisis but the networks coverage has been putrid. For one thing, no 24/7 coverage.

10,000+ dead, a very famous metro area, 35th largest metro area wiped out and no extra coverage besides a few primetime specials. Pathetic.

16. Print media have been full of pix and stories
I'm in Chapel Hill, NC. Raleigh paper ran several pages of stories.
Many of the major dailies have been running very negative stories.

Sure, there are still people who don't even know NO is underwater--but they're the same people who never know anything except where to get the best price on something at the mall.

The point is that the assumption that the Republicans will PROTECT the US is now challenged. They can't respond to a hurricane which we knew about in advance. How the hell are they going to respond to a major
terrorist attack affecting an entire city, or region of the country?

Where did you get the 10,000 dead figure? I haven't seen that anywhere.

22. How lucky for the Busheviks they no longer need the "little nobodies"
to "win" what is laughingly called "elections".

They operate with the impunity of a Caesar or a Hitler. They KNOW they will "win", no matter what.
