Rush blocking Liberal talk show host's attempts to syndicate.
I was listening to Randi Rhodes yesterday, (http://therandirhodesshow.com if you want to check her out) Randi took the high road on this whole Rush thing - basically saying that, if Rush is an addict, she feels horrible for him. If the stories are untrue, she almost feels more horrible. Said she can't wallow in his misery even though if the roles were reversed, the Republicans would be milking this for all its worth.

Anyways, onto the crux of my post. Randi has been trying to get syndicated for some time. Randi is also employed by C.C. as Rush is. Yesterday on her show, she said (and I'll do my best to nail down her words) "This man has gone to my parent company and told them that if they try to put me on in other markets he will take his show and walk with it" - Now, she has alluded to this before.. but she's been very 'mum' in talking about syndication. It looks like the proverbial 'cat is out of the bag' on this now. I don't understand why Rush would 'fear' another viewpoint. Well, ok, its Randi, yeah I do - Rush vs. Randi in a battle of the brains would result in Rush needing to untie that other 1/2 of his brain and to borrow more than talent from God in order to have a chance.

3. Yes, she streams from her site.
3-7 PM Eastern time. She's local on 1290 WJNO in West Palm Beach, FL. Randi was reporting 'problems' with the ballot during the 2000 election @ 7:30 AM that morning. She was on top of it from the start.

5. Yes...and Her Goodbye Elian Gonzalez Show was a Classic
I know she was "banished" up the coast...I think it was WIOD she was on in 2000.

Clear Channel is icing her as they are with many other moderate/liberal/progressive hosts since they don't attract the angry fat white guys.

14. WINZ
it was 940 WINZ which is now (get ready to puke) Faux Sports, and they are getting their asses kicked by WQAM (gee, could it be cuz of NEIL ROGERS??!?!) and here's a VERY ODD "COINKYDUE": notice how WINZ dumped all their shows (inc. Randi) and flipped to sports NOT EVEN A MONTH AFTER 9/11?!?!?!?!?!!? Gee, we at CC don't want no liberal telling the TRUTH on the air in the 12th biggest US city Miami now do we? Bastards.

HEY CHEAP CHANNEL, I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY NOW THAT YOU SYNDICATED A RACIST JUNKIE LIAR WHO CAN'T GET RATINGS, INSTEAD OF SYNDICATING RANDI!!! She has to go to an outside company to get syndicated! Serves CC right, what dirtbags. But, hey, the Mays are booty-buddies with BUSH, what a shock huh?

22. Randi says her show
is rated #1 - not just on Clear Channel - it is #1 amongst the 42 OTHER stations in her time slot. She's the biggest money maker CC has in the area.

17. Yup, it me!
Hell yes! At the VERY least, Randi should be put back on the air in Miami and Tampa, where people still know of her. Not so much Tampa, cuz the WIOD sumulcast on WSUN was like 10 years ago...but Miami is still nice & fresh.

Anybody know when the Randi Rhodes Radio Network is going to actually LAUNCH?!?!?!

4. Call me nuts, but I really think Rush's blocking of
Rhode's syndication could stem from some higher-up's suggestion. Rush Limbaugh is, sadly, rather chummy with Washington insiders.

I don't see any other reason to block the syndication of someone else's show. Radio hosts are syndicated all over the place- bad ones, too. Practically all of them are Republican shills, of course.

Then again, it could just be a case of petty toe-stomping on Limbaugh's case.

6. There's Syndication...Then There's Clear Channel/Premier
The airwaves are loaded with talk shows, but there's really only one major pipeline...Premier. They syndicate Rush, Dr. Laura, Hannity, whoever the latest Art Bell replacement is and so on. It's a virtual take-'em all situation for affiliates, and this ties up hours of airtime on thousands of stations...most owned by Premiers biggest clients/partners Clear Channel, Infinity and ABC/Disney.

Thanks to deregulation, most of these stations are turn-key operations that fill most of their hours with materials fed directly to them...local stations rarely have a decision on which shows to air and are lucky to be able to move them from their nationally broadcast time slots.

Thus, sadly, folks like Randi and Mike Malloy and others are on the outside in the "commercial" world. There are other networks, but many are either religious or brokers (whores) who sell blocks of airtime and have networks of disjointed and poorly produced shows.

The "stars" of Premier sway a lot of weight. It's their names that make these companies and their stations money and they don't want to rock the boat. Wanna bet Rush and Hannity and O'Reilly and other yakkers were at that Philly hotel at the NARB convention yesterday and having their behinds kissed by the "protectors of the public airwaves".

Thank goodness for NPR and Internet radio.

7. What I don't understand..
Is why fear Randi? So she presents a different viewpoint.. so what? That's the whole idea of debate. Are the Freeper types so paranoid that if a 'differing voice' gets out there that the tide / pendelum might swing? That really is sad.

9. It's The Numbers Game
This is purely a money/numbers game. Radio works like a glacier..."accepted" conventions are hard to move, and one that's big these days is the "White 25-54 Demographic". There are two formats that attract this audience...Sports and Talk Radio. The convention on women is they're listening to Neil Diamond or Clint Black or watching Ophra. Since Rush draws well IN HIS DAYPART (this is the key) among this demo (sadly there's reams of Arbitron data that shows him either atop or near the top of the ratings in many of the top markets during his airtime among 25-54) that he's a now a "proven commodity". The same now, sadly, is applying to Hannity & Dr. Laura, etc.

It's kinda like TV. If you'll notice Oprah is never in competition with much of anyone or will be slotted against Regis and WhateverLee. This is the same deal with Rush. O'Reilly's attempted to go up against Rush, but all he is is secondary programming by Premier and many stations that take him delay his show til evening hours.

Sorry to be so geeky. This is my area of expertise.

21. But Aren't There Channels That Are NOT Doing Well With Rush
that they could put Randi on?

Or other times... even if it was 11:00 pm.

19. IMPORTANT INFO ON THE RANDI ARCHIVE SITE!!!
It is NOT a Clear Channel approved site, and Randi may not even know of its existence...so be careful who you tell about it.

Also, if you can, PLEASE DONATE to the poor shlep who is taking his own PERSONAL time to do this so the people out there who cannot listen to Randi LIVE can listen to her ENTIRE show... without commercials, news reports, traffic reports, etc...an entire 4 hours of Randi's show...in just a little over 2 hours!!! Itt takes over 3 hours to edit out the commercials, and stuff, so the dude/dudette busts they ass.

23. New Randi News! :)
Randi just said on the air that, as of today, Clear Channel has given her permission to seek a syndication deal outside of the company. Apparently, as a result of that, her show is currently 'on the satellite' - which I'm guessing means its available to any affiliate that would bite?

Very cool!

24. YES, Randi said her agent is now free to try to syndicate her separately
from Clear Channel!!

Also--WJNO has a Saturday AM repeat for 3 hours called "The Best of Randi Rhodes" I think it starts at 9am ET.

By the way, for MANY MORE progressive radio talk shows, check out my RADIO FOR THE LEFT page....below
