23. Delivering a very passionate rant
She covered a lot of ground....Looters.... who cares let them touch those things.... those people are so poor they have probably never been able to touch those things before....Why can we go to the other side of the world and destroy everything and we can't do anything for those people... larry tried to say we are making a lot of money for those people.... She went on... they don't need money, they need water.... NOW on and on... it was very good

Larry "Kiss the Stars Ass" King's comments about how wonderful it was that she donated a million dollars to Katrina survivors.

Celine's response (the gist of it, anyway): "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I donated money, stop kissing my ass and start giving these people the things they need!!"

84. Kanye West and now Celine, the tipping point is here

TRUTH to POWER is on the march.

Celine was magnificent, she let Larry King, and GW have it with both of her gentle fist.

Bumble Mumble King Fish was at a lost for words.

When he asked her to sing I got so mad at him.

But, like a true diva, she rose to the occasion!

Her voice was like an angel's.
The song was so fitting -- just beautiful.

Does anyone have the video link?

54. mea culpa
I've made fun of her too.
I confess that while I've been in awe of my fellow Canadian's pure vocal talent, I've accused her of having no real substance.
After reading about her interview on Larry King (just got off a 9 hr shift so missed it) I'm quickly backpeddling.
Does anyone know where I can get a link to a video, or at least a transcript? I doubt they'll replay her.

I'm so Pysched and most of it is because of the people I will encounter.

I went last year to Canada's Niagara Falls and loved the people..I wore my Kerry/Edwards pin everywhere and got into all kinds of amazing conversations.

This year my friend and I are going to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia(Concert at The Schooner Room in Halifax.."The Proclaimers" from Scotland are kicking off their Canada/USA tour), Cape Breton Island, and Prince Edward Island.

We're driving and camping out except in Halifax ..we get to stay in a Motor Inn :)

While she was there on a USO tour, film footage was taken that showed the destruction. Yet somehow that footage wound up "lost."

* Jessica Simpson is the airhead who had previously complemented Secretary of the Interior, Gale Norton, on her fine decorating job at the WH.

60. Larry couldn't stop her....
anyone else would have been cut off, but he had to let her say it - and she said everything we've been saying here for days, she said it loudly, and she said it passionately. And then she pulled it together and sang in tune, a cappella, and beautifully. Larry's right about one thing: She's a trooper and a magnificent lady. I'm floored and now, a fan.

67. Go Celine!
You phrase the harmonies of life so magnificently. But into everyones life a little dischord must creep. We cannot live on that high note forever. This nodule shall bestill his voice. He has brought forth Hell. Lift your head high. Strike out at those harmonies well. Make them descend to those who fell.

Bless You and your true compassion for them.

Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 10:44 PM by KamaAina
As a Quebecoise, Celine naturally considers la Louisiane to be an integral part of le monde francophone. Naturally she is at least as disgusted as we are at how Bush** and thugs have hung it out to dry.

That's the end of the Celine-bashing for a while...

edit: naturally

I am an unashamed baby person now (NEVER before) and that bok was the cutest thing. You have to forgive us new mothers; we can't help it. (My husband is so bad he calls me in from the other room whenever there is a cute baby on tv. we are retarded and loving it)

saying is true, she just changed my opinion of her from bad to good. I'll remember her truth telling and keep it in mind. Good going. Tell it like it is.

86. She did a magnificent job....here's some more of what Celine said...
My husband and I were channel surfing and there was Celine...crying.

She was practically shouting, "We can go around the world to kill people, but we can't bring our own people food and water!".

She was crying so hard. She was bawling and speaking at the same time.

It was very moving.

She talked about the mothers that she saw on tv, "I see these mothers with their children and it is just so horrible! My child sees this on television and I tell him that these are strong, strong people and that they will be ok."

Then she cried more and kept apologizing for crying so much. She said, "I'm sorry, but I've been holding this in all week. It's just so awful. People are dying in their rafters. People are stranded. Why aren't we helping them? It would be so easy to help them. Get a kayak. Go find those stranded in their rafters and help them."

Larry tried to put a positive spin on it--by saying that she was doing a good thing by donating a million dollars.

She seemed indignant. "These people need food and water NOW. Yes, later that money will help these people. But these people don't care about my check NOW. They need food and water NOW!"

I would like to watch the replay of this. I'll TIVO and put it up if no one else has.

VERY MOVING.

She also sang a prayer acapella. It made me cry. Very heartbreaking.

PS--Did anyone else know that Larry King was the master of ceremonies at Bush Sr's 80th birthday party? He's a friend of the family.

87. An example of losing mainstream America
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 11:22 PM by Tom Joad
When commonly apolitical people like this become this angry and disgusted, you know the status quo will not stand. This represents another break in the political levee (angry media talking heads another), and it will flood the Bush administration, and hopefully take all the compliant Democrats who supported the war with him. We live in very interesting times.

Can't wait to see the next poll of his standings with the US public. I am guessing, optimistically for Bush, in the 20's for doing good job. But the among the majority who dispprove of his performance, it will be split between those who merely want impeachment, and those who are less charitable.

90. I stopped liking her when rushie limppaw said he was a big fan..
about six or seven years ago, accidentally landed on his show when driving from state to state.

He was going on about how great her latest CD was and how much he liked her singing.

I had never listened to him before, so I wasn't familiar with his voice. I was just channel surfing while making a road trip.

Eventually, I realized who I was listening to and quickly changed the channel.

Now, I feed so bad that I judged her by the one fan that I despise.

Go, Celine! It's icing on the cake that rushie loves you. I wonder how he's reacting to this. MKJ

93. Awesome, wow, I no longer feel shame for buying her first album in high
school.

I always knew she could sing, I just thought she was all fluff.

Now I know that she has a heart and she is strong enough to shout the truth.

Way to go Celine, I will never ever ever think a bad thought about her again.

so I almost ignored this thread.
