because, er, William Rehnquist died, said John King.

At least the flags will be lowered to half-mast now.

Meanwhile, in other news...

5. It's a sad night when a man whose first job was keeping blacks from voting
dies?

That's an interesting choice of words. I feel for his family, and I'm sure he did a great deal of work, but I am far more horrified and saddened by what is happening *right now* with thousands of other people.

But as usual, the rich white dude gets the attention.

6. Reninds me of an old joke : at the funeral the minister asks
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 10:38 PM by Pallas180
does anyone have anything good they want to say about the deceased?

several minutes go by and no one says anything.

the minister says, "anyone?

a voice pipes up from the back of the church.

"It's good he's dead."

10. And gotta add this
When I saw this photo on CNN's web page, I nearly lost it. And, on the webpage, they did not have the picture of the deceased. My god. Who can see this and not say it has been a sad WEEK, and not just for the victims, but for those of us who see our country's humanity slipping away courtesy of our do-nothing government.
