Harry Connick Jr for President
I think someone else may have said this already.

He just apologized on the Larry King repeat I am watching here for critizing the Nagin yesterday, responding to a rumor he heard that the mayor had evacuated to Baton Rouge.

Plus his accent is still way sexy.

4. No
His office has been relocated to Baton Rouge, but he has not left New Orleans.

5. Jesus
They are showing a photo of Harry kneeling next to someone dead in a wheelchair with a blanket over them.

And he just said, 'I was just looking at her beautiful, black skin...'

It is SO refreshing to see a musician/celebrity who is so real and honest and human on TV. Especially since, with his talent and looks, he could be a real asshole easily. Like all those damn rappers. And Hollywood pretty boys.

9. that's great to hear!
to me, that's character. When a person has talent and looks nice. When he could be pretty much anything he wants and he chooses to speak out for the right thing, that's my kind of values!!

I really never paid much attention to him but I will now!

16. No, understood
It's just difficult in electronic communication where you can't impart tone of voice or expression.

I certainly don't think all rappers are misogynist, ego-driven greed monsters. But most of the mainstream ones seem to be. Totally disconnected from reality. Which is ironic considering that most of them start off rapping about social inequality and isolation. But then immediately move on to solid-gold Bentleys, bitches, hos, and self-aggrandizing. :(

Anyway, I like rap in general, just not most of the rappers I've seen on TV lately.

8. Harry's real...and talented.
I actually like him quite a bit, and I hope that the love that he has for his hometown brings hope to a lot of people. He's one person who's got his priorities straight, and knows that it's about taking care of the needs of the people. I also thought it was something of him to pay respects to the ones who didn't make it, like the lady in the wheelchair that he was kneeling by in that pic...that was very moving.

12. I liked what he said about going to the convention center
said after seeing the media reports he didn't know what to expect, thought he might be shot at "but it wasn't like that, those people just wanted food and water"

18. Yep
That part was important.

It's funny, but I think he will fill a void in that, like he said, 'These people have the same accent as me! These are good people.' SO people can clearly see him and that he IS New Orleans.

But he is white. So in that way other white people can identify. Harry clearly doesn't see himself as white. He sees himself as a New Orleanian.

:applause:

21. That's what I was wondering about...
His pop is a Repub, right? Has Harry ever come out as one?

I don't see how someone with his brains and his experiences could subscribe to the Repub way of thinking, but, I don't know ...
