I call that "word magic". While words have may have a certain context in social situations, they are totally harmless and are not able to cause any harm in and of themselves. Word magic is, to me, a way to control the contents of the mind, and nothing more.

Adults who subscribe to the idea that a word is "obscene", (yet another word) are probably suffering from a form of verbal arrested development and not able to comprehend that obscenity only exists in the mind of the beholder.

I can see teaching children context and appropriate, or polite, usage of words, but that would only be so as to not offend someone else, or a group. Children should never be taught that words in themselves are "bad", or "evil". If there goign to be able to think freely, that is.

Their mind is their own sacred space and it is better to swear at someone than to verbally abuse them with personal and painful remarks that go for the jugular and have a lasting impact on relationships.

Although, unfortunately, censorship is a disterssingly popular proposition, even among some self-described "progrssives".
