Never thought I'd say this but
I fukin love Celine Deion. Not for any of her music (I almost had my wife hunt her down for that Titanic song) but did anyone else see her on Larry King last night?

2. no, in Montreal I think
Her and her husband donated a million and that was supposed to be the focus of the interview but she broke down in tears and started raging about the slow response and how "people right now don't care about my money, they want water and food" and about how we can "Send planes in 2 days to another country to kill everyone but can't get supplies to the needy here" I'm paraphrasing but it was pretty touching and powerful.

9. They live at least part time in Las Vegas
'cuz she does her show there months on end.

I don't know why I know stuff about Celine ... aaargh! ... but I do respect her a LOT for how she responded.

3. I saw her, shadowknows69; I'm no fan, but
she was so magnificent in her sorrow and heartbreak. She said money didn't matter (though she's donated a mil), a bottle of water for each person suffering means more, and why weren't they getting it? She definitely went up in my estimation.

4. After watching her last night..
I will never, ever make fun of her again.

And I'm a smartass who looooves a good celebrity mocking, so that's a big statement coming from me.

5. My wife and I sat here with our jaws on the floor
and eventually tears in our eyes. I'm not a huge fan of celebrities saying too much politically because I think it gets used against them but raw unscripted outbursts like this should definitely turn some heads.

6. It was unbelievable!
I hope this is just the beginning of people NOT watching what they say.

7. Glad I found this thread (it wasn't easy)
because I saw Celine Dion last night too. I don't care for her voice or music style but I won't be criticizing her anymore, not in this lifetime!

Not only did she "break down in tears," she was crying a steady STREAM throughout almost the entire interview! She kept wiping the tears away quickly but ended up having to just wipe and wipe and wipe, and even that was futile.

She said so much in her rant that I have been feeling over the past week. Others have said it too, and it seems that more are "losing it" like this and burting out even on camera what they really FEEL about this monstrous, criminally negligent (at the very least) "rescue and relief effort" by the Federal government.

I don't know Ms. Dion pulled herself together enough at the end of her remarks to sing an entire song without cracking up, but I never doubted the lady is a pro.

I hope more and more of us who are completely fed UP with our "leaders" at the TOP will, as someone here said, start NOT watching what they say! THIS IS WHAT WE NEED ... and by god, I think I'm seeing it happening as the misery continues day after day.

A little while ago Wolf Blitzer got a long interview with Chertoff and actually asked him some of the HARD questions, like was he "ashamed" I think he said, over the govt's failure and what about FEMA's Mike Brown having only the experience of running the Arabian Horse Association before his appointment as head of FEMA! I was shocked!

Maybe one day soon someone as mainstream as Blitzer will actually lose it after seeing one picture or hearing one crappy response too many and just BLAST Bush and his machine on maximum volume?! Well, I can hope, can't I? Imagine what it must be like for those anchors who view during the commercial breaks a lot of the raw, UNedited feeds coming in from the reporters on the scene of this catastrophe? How much CAN they take before they snap? THEY have been going through this for a week now, too, after all.

So I say, "YEAH! Let 'em RANT, goddammit!!!" Spoken THIS time WITHOUT THE BLUSH!

8. Yes, I saw her. Somehow it seems that our foreign-born celebrities
have a deeper empathy for African Americans than even the most liberal native born whites. She was either totally upset or she is a damn good actress and I believe the former.
