How will the bastards survive the crisis? Easy:
they'll create another crisis!

It's how they govern, by burying one catastrophe with another.

Katrina accelerates the broadening of the war. Drumbeats to solve the Iran "problem" will become deafening in coming weeks, believe me.

2. Nah...Iraq is already clusterfucked. Lameduck time. Iran? Pssh...
There's not even the military support or ability to destroy Iran anymore, DCheney and his goofballs would have to fly there themselves.

3. They Will Not, Sir
Indeed, this disaster has put paid to the whole policy of imperial expansion in the Middle East. Our people are nativists and isolationists in their hearts, and will rebel at the use of funds and energies to "benefit foreigners" while such calamity exists at home.

4. I will believe that Sir when someone in this administration

is held accountable for something. Maybe Chertoff will get the Medal of Freedom for his handling of this disaster.

I hear the thunder three miles away
The Island's leaking into the bay
The poison is spreading
The demon is free
And people are running from what they can't even see

Face the fire
You can't turn away
The risk grows greater with each passing day
The waiting's over
The moment has come
To kill the fire and turn to the sun

They'll take your money
And then take your health
To line their pockets with unequalled wealth
These men are under the power of gold
We won't be safe until we shut them down cold

Face the fire
You can't turn away
The risk grows greater with each passing day
The waiting's over
The moment has come
To kill the fire and turn to the sun

The people came to the capitol town
One hundred thousand of them laid their hearts down
They screamed in anger and broadcast their fears
Just to have them fall on deaf ears

Face the fire
You can't turn away
The risk grows greater with each passing day
The waiting's over
The moment has come
To kill the fire and turn to the sun

Kill the fire and turn to the sun

6. This Is Nowhere Near Over, Ma'am
Its political effects will reverbrate for many years, perhaps even for decades.

9. As was said this week:
In 10 years, no one will remember who was the mayor of NO, the gov. But everyone will remember who the President was at the time of this disaster.

History will always have its say.

11. So how long do you think it will take for someone to be held accountable
for the handling of this disaster?

10. I doubt it. That would be like pushing Social Security "reform" again.
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 10:37 AM by Marr
No one bought the Social Security scam because they knew Bush was a liar who serves corporate America first. Even his fans know it. They were willing to overlook that fact when it only resulted in a bunch of brown people being bombed in Iraq, but not when it affected their own bank accounts.

They now know he's imcompetent as well- if they didn't already. Trying to push for action in Iran would cause a serious outcry- again, even from his own supporters. No one trusts him anymore. They don't trust his abilities and they don't trust his motives.

It would be useless to attempt a distraction from thousands of dead Americans. Nothing short of another massacre would do it, and that would accomplish nothing. Worse than nothing- there'd be lynch mobs in DC.

I think they'll focus on deflecting blame onto the local government. Their sheep *want* to believe that.
