I think I've heard it all now.

My aunt called from her sister-in-law's and during the conversation said "according to the TV there are all these people without food and water in New Orleans." Her SIL in the background said "Yeah, and it's snowing in Phoenix." ??? They think they are making this up? My aunt said there was no way to help anyone with people firing on them. I mentioned that helicopters in Iraq get fired on but they aren't pulled out and that the majority of people in NO are helpless victims and not firing on helicopters. Yes, they are all Republican. Sheesh.

and they are shocked at the dire situation, the devastation, the lack of help from the feds and the fact that Bush didn't do a damn thing to help at all.

Notice the use of "they" or "them" used in a context of otherness, not just in this story, but in all similar stories. "They" are shooting at the helicopters; therefore, "they" do not deserve to be rescued. When people are saying "they are shooting at the helicopters", they do not mean criminals; they mean black people.

10. My GOP cheerleader SIL told me yesterday that people in the Dome

DID have food but they would not eat it because the MREs were not heated up properly! She said alot more but I won't sicken you any further by repeating it here. I lost it and told her if she wanted to believe bullshit to go ahead and wallow in it. I cannot believe the insanity that I am hearing from the wingnuts about this. Its making me ill to think there are some people who just don't give a damn about what those poor souls in NO suffered.
