If anyone saved New Orleans, it was the Liberals
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 11:23 AM by Onlooker
What a huge victory we're achieving. Between the ferocity of our anger, the emotions of liberal journalists, our letters, emails, phone calls, etc., we actually provided enough push to force Bush to end his vacation, Congress to rush back to Washington, Hastert to apologize, Republicans to criticize Bush, and FEMA to get into gear. The victims cries only became loud enough when we joined them.

This is a great victory for liberalism. Liberal values has exposed Conservative compassion as a fraud.

5. and I feel nothing but complete
and total despair. I just read a thread where 46% don't hold shrub personally accountable. Another on a man being held against his will in a FEMA shelter in Merrano LA. Another about evacuees being taken to a toxic waste site in Arkansas.

I am so afraid that the country as we have always known it (or maybe just percieved it) to be is gone.

8. I agree - I'm sending my e-mails, faxing letters to the White House
and generally agitating wherever I go. In line at Starbucks - everything. Wearing my 'Impeach Bush' shirts. Whatever it takes - if it gets just one person to begin thinking!

I agree this is the truth and it's the correct way to frame all that has transpired. Karl Rove is already reconstituting images and sound bytes for the state-media version of history. Let's not be taken in by reacting to the lies this time.

Repeat the truth. Just keep framing it as it is. Repeat and repeat and repeat. Use the Neocon's methods against them. Terrific.

12. What about the fundies?
This is the first truly liberal victory and it feels good that we did it by fighting to help and resuce the urban poor. It's interesting how the fundamentalists chose to play almost no political role in this matter. What were they saving their political capital for?

13. We're being setup ...

The whole response was a setup to get liberals howling about a "poor response". The Pukes are pulling a switcharoo now and putting the focus on the mayor and why HE wasn't well prepared.

I thought this would be Bush's worst hour. As it's turning out ... it seems to be a push.

But I have no doubt now that Bush is a fucking heartless demon. He willfully and intentionally allowed THOUSANDS to die. And I'll bet if he did anything, it was making sure those Coast Guard helicopters didn't drop any sandbags when they might have done some good.

14. Bush isn't stepping out of this mess
He's not going to get too far by blaming the mayor and governor. The media isn't interested in them.
