NO levies breached on purpose?
To divert the flood waters to the less affluent parts of the city. Corps of Engineers says that the sections of levies that failed were some of the least in need of repair and should have held. Just read of this on another message board and have no links.
Anyone else heard of this?

1. i haven't heard this but I have heard...
that they may breech levees that drain to the south on purpose in order to drain NO--faster than using pumps

4. Can you fill a soup bowl
and decide which portions of the bottom get wet?

Water reaches its own level. The higher land stayed dry, the lower land was inundated.

8. Looking at aerial photos of flooded NO
it appears there are cross dikes within the city that are keeping some sections dry even though they are also below sea level.

5. That was the theory in Betsy. Doesn't work here due to what broke.
The major breech was one that flooded the entire East Bank, including the "affluent" parts.

6. That thought crossed my mind this morning for some strange reason
I was watching CBS Sunday morning and they were saying that the part of the storm that hit NOLA was only a category 2 hurricane and that the levees should have held. It made me wonder, were they sabotaged?

Good question

9. Look at what parts of the city got flooded - this wasn't "selective."

There's no evidence for this tin foil hat crap. (And that is *all* it is--crap.)
