New Orleans death rate 10-12 per hour???

We were watching CNN earlier, and my SO thought she saw a scroll across the bottom to the effect that the current death rate still occurring in NO was 10-12 per hour.

Did anyone else see that or can anyone confirm or refute this?

2. What is it from? They must be hydrated by now.

Is it from existing illnesses that went uncared for - like diabetes? Or is it due to dysentery?

3. Many, many of these people were in poor health to begin with.

Their body systems would have been very badly stressed during the wait for rescue.

4. A few days ago people were dying of dehydration...worse now

I have to get away from the computer for awhile for a mental health break. Can't see through my tears anyway.

People still trapped in attics, people badly injured, ones that were so badly dehydrated that they finally died of renal failure (that's when your kidneys give up and you go into convulsions - VERY painful), other medical conditions exascerbated by the heat, exposure, sunburn, and lack of food and water...

Some of these folks were up on a rooftop for DAYS - in 98 degree weather - on an asphalt shingle rooftop, slowly getting cooked with no food or water. These people died a horrible, painful death. It's not over.

but it was on the crawl along the bottom this morning. If this is true it's a big story and it's amazing there is not more on it.

9. I Heard it and thought it was per day!

Then a little later I saw the segment with the Coast Guard rescuers and what they are finding. It is hideous. Just one example was opening up a roof at a hospice and 10 people were dead and 10 more near death. That was just one instance. They had many more heart breakers like it. So 10 an hour sounds very plausable.

I fucking Hate Bush.
