I'd never hear that perticular variant of "Clarke's Law" ("Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" -- Arthur C. Clark) before catching it today at Avedon Carol's blog The Sideshow (http://www.sideshow.me.uk/), but it was worth passing on.

1. Incidentally, Clarke was wrong.
Magic follows distinct rules. Whether or not something follows those rules determines whether it is magic. If the advanced technology doesn't follow those rules, it is distinguishable from magic.
