1. Still 20,000 people in NO.
But the media will forget them soon if we are not careful (and frankly, we may as well in the noise around).

11. Media has already forgotten them.
Lead story on Yahoo News this morning: New Orleans collects dead as officials dodge blame. A brief mention of a few survivors stil left, but the focus was casualty counting, not survivor rescue.

:grr:

2. She was on Fox
All she had to do was walk out her door and wave a towel or some bright colored clothing. She said helicopters were flying all around her.She didn't seem a bit concerned about leaving....said she had plenty of food and water.

5. Water damages structural integrity of these houses
People need to realize this, and get these people out before more die in house collapses, not to mention the disease from the toxic water and waterborne diseases.

3. If you have nothing in the whole world but your house...
maybe leaving is no different from dying.

If I was an old woman with nothing, no family, no money, exhausted, I might just choose to stay until I croaked.

Not everyone sees the world the same way.

6. How do you know they CHOOSE to stay?
Some people simply had no way to leave.

FOX is just trying to have us believe the administration did nothing wrong.

9. This woman said she stayed because she didn't want her elderly dog
to be left alone to starve or drown. And I think the tone of your post is offensive. Why would you think an old woman would have "nothing, no family, no money" etc. Is being old equivalent to being miserable?

10. Actually, it is also offensive because it ignores the reality
many people could not leave.

7. kicked, just in case people care
Amazing how threads trying to talk about the reality (THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE IN NO AND SOME ARE DYING) sink today.
