President Jefferson Parish sobbing uncontrollably
"Three quick examples. We had Wal-Mart deliver three trucks of water. FEMA turned them back. They said we didn’t need them. This was a week ago. FEMA, we had 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on a Coast Guard vessel docked in my parish. When we got there with our trucks, FEMA says don’t give you the fuel. Yesterday — yesterday — FEMA comes in and cuts all of our emergency communication lines. They cut them without notice. Our sheriff, Harry Lee, goes back in, he reconnects the line. He posts armed guards and said no one is getting near these lines…"

3 dreadful paragraphs here...especially about the St Bernard nursing home.

3. The heartwrenching story about the man's mother ...
at the nursing home is on Yahoo... it tore at my heart as so many others have.

Why can't some people understand that "there but by the grace of 'God' go...."YOU... or your mother... or your children, etc. If Bush can't keep the victims of Katrina safe and get them help FAST what makes you think he could for YOU or your loved ones if there were a natural or man made disaster/terrorsit act.

The fact is that a disaster on this scale can happen anywhere, to anyone at anytime. Please read this story and picture it being YOU on the phone and YOUR "Mama" or YOUR child asking "are you coming.. is somebody coming?"

<snip>A New Orleans official was overcome by emotion on national television on Sunday when describing how a woman was abandoned and eventually drowned after repeated promises she would be rescued.

"The guy who runs this building I'm in, the emergency management, who's responsible for everything. His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home and every day she called him and said are you coming, son, is somebody coming," Aaron Broussard, president of Jefferson Parish, said as he burst into heavy sobbing on NBC's Meet the Press program.

"And he said 'yeah mama, somebody's coming to get ya, somebody's coming to get ya on Tuesday, somebody's coming to get ya on Wednesday, somebody's coming to get ya on Thursday, somebody's coming to get you on Friday.'

"And she drowned Friday night, she drowned Friday night. Nobody's coming to get us."

5. The number of nursing home residents abandoned
in New Orleans, with no attempt made to evacuate them, is horrifying.

There are small nursing homes on Esplanade Street, at the north end of the French Quarter, where the staff was desperately signalling passing NG and helicopters, with no response.

The photos of the elderly people lying on the baggage carousels at Louis Armstrong Airport are largely of residents of these nursing homes.

How anyone can justify these people being abandoned like this is unfathomable. The frailest of the frail.

6. This is one video that should be played over and over since
half of the people in the US only understand when something is hammered to them over and over. I cried right along with this man; everyone should feel his pain.
