Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 05:52 PM by gp
the WWL-TV anchor changed the story three times...latest update is that some contracters WERE killed...anchor speculates that Army Corps of Engineers and NOPD are giving out CONTRADICTING info...

they said they will not give any updates again untill they can ABSOLUTELY confirm who's been killed.

3. I swear I heard CBS say... NG shot and killed AcoE..
For a moment I had a disconnect.

I thought he was standing in Fallujah and was telling us just another story about how the Marines shot some insurgents, oops mistakently some civilians or Reuters guys.

:scared: The war is now in my backyard.

4. Good God...was Generalissimo Franco with them? It's like an SNL skit.
Unfortunately of course, it's not. Likely someone was killed although who and the specific circumstances still aren't clear.

9. The UNREDACTED story from Yahoo
NEW ORLEANS - Police shot eight people carrying guns on a New Orleans bridge Sunday, killing five or six, a deputy chief said. A spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers said the victims were contractors on their way to repair a canal.

The contractors were walking across a bridge on their way to launch barges into Lake Pontchartrain to fix the 17th Street Canal, said John Hall, a spokesman for the Corps.

Earlier Sunday, New Orleans Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said police shot at eight people, killing five or six.

The shootings took place on the Danziger Bridge, which spans a canal connecting Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River.

11. I wonder what all those "shoot 'em on sight" people think about this...
... since no one seems to be able to figure out just who these "armed men" who may have gotten "shot on sight" are.
