Is there just not much to say about Rehnquist?
Watched hours of coverage. There wasn't any event which they could refer to; nothing he had done that they could bring up in eulogy.

Orrin Hatch said all the typical stuff about him; all the lip service, but I was not left with a single impression of the man.

This speaks volumes.

2. They're busy on another story.
Meanwhile, Rehnquist was old, had cancer, died. 'Nuff said for now.

5. It MIGHT Be A Good Thing
Because I heard O'Connor might be asked to postpone her retirement. If Rehnquist is replaced by a "CONservative," it'll be a little diffrerent than O'Connor being replaced by a CONservative." However, if scalia or thoma$$ ends up as chief justice, we might be screwed. If the worst happenes, I pray for a President in 2008 who can get (almost) the whole bench impeached and start fresh. I know this is a pipe dream, but I don't care, I like the idea.

6. I recall reading somewhere that as a young man
he made his name within the reppug establishment by traveling with a truck load of thugs on election day to intimidate minorities. This occured in Arizona. Should not be too hard to find a source.

10. Well, it wasn't exactly an unexpected event.
He was an old, sick man.

Except now we're going to have two simultaneous confirmation hearings, which is an interesting occurence.

11. what a waste?
rehnquist -- like all intellectual right wingers knew he was a profound liar.

but he was too simple minded to make a real name for himself among left wing thinkers -- so he turned to the right wing.
they'll take anybody.

Last year a million people fell into poverty.

Mostly working poor whites.

Who voted for Bush.

Rehnquist died with a hard on...

Watching the troops clean up the "useless eaters"...

Evil walks among us,

Just observe.

On this forum, you have been given the eyes to see and the ears to hear.

13. What I'll say is there should be NO VOTES on Supreme Court until
after the American citizen refugees are all taken care of
and NO&LA, MISS, ALA are back on track.

There are no votes that are as important as this
situation right now.

Rehnquist successor can wait until the American
people are back on their feet, so that we can
all be represented fairly.

15. He was a racist, a homophobe and anti-choice on abortion. And...
he helped install George W. Bush as President in the legal coup d'etat in 2000.

And he presided over the Senate trial of Bill Clinton

That's all you need to know sbout William Rehnquist.
