My Hurricane Katrina rant
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 11:44 PM by KingFlorez
HURRICANE KATRINA

Hurricane Katrina slammed into The Gulf Coast with fury and our so-called Commander-in-Chief was woofin' down cake and strummin' some guitar. The people of New Orleans have to pay for the mistake of a bunch of ignorant, uneducated red state votes who sent this man back to the White House. People are sitting around languishing without food and clean water and our federal government has failed to have a timely and broad response to this disaster. Could it have anything to do with the fact 67% of New Orleans is black? No, it couldn't possibly because our great "President" is suppose to be a man of great moral standards who would never do anything like that. He's not anxious to help a city with a majority poor and black population, because all those people are a bunch of lazy criminals. True, the looters we see on our television screen are black, but those are the bad element that has moved in with decent people.

Most of these people work hard just like any suburban, white person in any state. I've not seen one positive comment from the right-wing site FreeRepublic towards the people that are in need of desperate help, just snide, nasty and racist (somtimes thinly veiled) acid laced tirade about how this bums are looking for a handout from the government and expecting an entitlement. I'm personally more concerned that these "Freepers" would bash me over the head with a beer bottle if they don't like my comments about Bush. They should rest assured that some of the people they call "bums" would probably open their doors to them if they found themselves in a disaster.

Then there are those who have stated New Orleans has been wiped out by God for immorality and sin. Sorry to break it to you fanatics, but God doesn't inflict this suffering on anyone, especially babies and elderly diabetics. It's baffling how anyone could says such vicious things about these people who are suffering. Compassionate Conservatism is nothing but a word used by Republicans to con voters. On top of all the this, the biggest question on our President's small mind is rebuilding Sen.Trent Lott's house and sitting on the porch. I'm sure Mr. Lott was upset by his loss, but he has another home to go to and can feed his family, the people of New Orleans don't.

Then the hefty Speaker of the House Denny Hastert said New Orleans should be bulldozed, Mr. Hastert if you're town is ever flooded we'll see how fast the bulldozers get there. And all this talk with people wanting a handout is down right stupid. These people just need food and potable water and some people resent taxpayer dollars being used for that, yet they have no problem with their money being flushed down the drain to line corporations pocket through subsidies and tax cuts.

And where is this so-called Right-to-Life crowd? I mean these people are being deprived of their right to life, but I guess that's not a priority to them because there is no political leverage for them. Then there's the perception that black people are stealing are food and white people are "finding" it. According to JJ Evans on Good Times "finding" is just code word for stealing. I'm not refering to those stealing electronics, I'm refering to those who are taking basic needs for survival who are being labeled criminals along with those who steal electronics. Kanye West's blunt and bold statement about the DeFacto President is right on after the display he's shown.

Mr. Bush stood in Alabama grandstanding with the Republican governors of Mississippi and Alabama as if it we're some sort of Republican campaign stop, making ignorant and redundant statements like he's speaking to a nation of 5-year olds. It's not suprising this disaster is so epic seeing as we have a President with a limited vocabulary and the desire to get a good photo-op. And then there are those who refuse to criticize the President over this, because they are afraid of being accused of playing politics. Instead, they make this ridiculously generic statements in monotone voices. Even the media is waking up and telling the story of this disaster like it is and making the extreme far-right upset. The United States looks like a third world country and Bush's is at the head of it. Kanye West was wrong when he said Bush doesn't care about black people, Bush doesn't care about anybody.
