The dead in NOLA will not be accurately counted, and here's why....
A government who refuses to honor their dead heroes of war, will certainly be immune to the honor of dead poor civilians. And with the entire city of NOLA under martail law, and under the reconstructive efforts of Halliburton et. al., let there be no doubt that the actual death toll will not be accurate.

IMHO, I believe that this administration has had its eyes on the 'fat' city for some time now. NOLA is a major U.S. port, supplies 25% of the U.S. oil supply, and is inhabited by many poor, whom they must have known had no means to escape in the event of a flood, because of their malevolent neglect. A city such as NOLA will easily be seized by these evil thugs in a time of war. Do you really think that this current administration cares about the living? Do you really think that we are currently in Iraq because of our love for freedom and democracy? How many innocent Iraqis have died there? We are at war because of oil and Iraq's strategic position. NOLA has oil and one of the most strategic positions in the U.S..

Just examine what they've done to the survivors of NOLA. They kept them without food, water, or communication for almost a week, and then divided them, so as to conquer their spirit of dissent and potential civil disobedience, and to discourage some of them from ever wanting to return to their once beloved city. When, if ever, do you imagine these citizens of NOLA to return? Many dead will be unaccounted for, and that will be by as much design as the design behind the refusal to honor the flag-draped coffins that return for their final journey home. Let there be no doubt that the actual death toll will not be accurate.

1. The only saving grace is that the LSU prof
predicted at least 10K which will make hiding the death harder... adn also government officials are using thiousands now. My take... I hate to say it, 50K and now that may be a conservative number.

3. And the mayor of NOLA also, but I no longer trust him for some gut
reason. Today in an interview he stated that B* had promised him that "We will rebuild NO into a shining example for the world." Nagin was PLEASED by this! It's total BS, and the mayor seemed more concerned about 'HIS' city than the true displaced citizens that make the city!

7. You know, if my city was in ruins, I'd kiss Bush's ass, too
ya'll may call me names for it.

But if Houston was torn up like New Orleans, and my lips on George's ass would bring it help, I'd be puckering up.

Give the guy his props for speaking out when he did. Things really got going then.

There's a time to speak, and a time to be silent.

15. Another good point. I love Houston too. (my hometown) I lived in NOLA
in 1994, and I love that city (the people are so dear to me), and I'm in real grief and shock. I can't imagine what I'd feel like if this were Houston. Thanks for your wise perspective.

8. That is a good point. Mary Landrieau(sp?) didn't pander recently at all..
but what's so weird about all of this is tht the first timeAnderson Cooper really expressed OUTRAGE at B*, he blasted Landr. for thanking and back-slapping the politicians...God, this is such a tragic MESS. Messopotamia and MessoGulfCoast...Two Gulf Tragedies.

9. I think that's the shock talking...
I don't think it's that he's not thinking about the citizens...

Nagin has seen people jump to their death in the Superdome... two of his officers killed themselves because they were so dispondent. These people are hanging onto anything they can to believe that they will be able to see their homes again, in some how, some way.

I heard the reporters on wwl when Hastert said "rebuilding NO would be unadvisable" rip him apart. They NEED to know that they have a future city to go home to...

22. It's so horrific... You know...
...I was thinking today, maybe the local and state could have done more... but here's the thing: I have no idea if they were counting on the feds to be in there Sunday night to help them! They were asking as far back as Aug 26th...

I have no idea of anything anymore... my brain is so full of disgust and anger... I think I'm going to take a break and go hug my kids, and thank God for my blessings. Peace to all you guys... later!

Bush will rebuild NO as a shining example, just the way he rebuilt Iraq into a shining democracy!

Nagin needs a good nights sleep.

does he see the body falling from the Superdome in his dreams?

20. if that's the same LSU professor
who was using computer models, based on the whole area affected by the storm, he predicted based on the models, 100k.

perhaps 10k+ in NO, (and that is really very low), but statewide (all states) is much much higher.

13. Two points on this
many of the bodies floated to the gulf... never to be found ever again

Some will decompose before they get to them... and some... I hate to share the old trick... well if the whole family is dead... and there is nobody to look for them... they never existed... old trick... and used around the world.

This is an ugly secret I know

16. in the storm of 1900 in Galveston, bodies came back
when I read your post, it reminded me of what happened on Galveston.

They tried sending the bodies out into the Gulf - and about a week later, they came back.

God, it sounds awful. They had to burn the bodies in huge fires on the beach.

21. I think that this is one of the reasons why they waited so long to send
help, and then sent everyone in the superdome far away...No onw will want to return, or if they do, and they report missing loved ones, do you think it will rate the nauseating COVERAGE OF ONE SINGLE WOMAN MISSING IN ARUBA?

BTW, I've done some forensic pathology, so I'm aware of some 'ugly secrets' also...but never did I think I'd be so cynical as to suspect my own government of such filth. 5 years of BFEE will do it!

The people of the United States are on a need-to-know basis, and Bush needs them to know nothing.
