Four charged in swastika vandalism

An adult and three juveniles were arrested Thursday in connection with the painting of swastikas on the street near a Jewish couple's Lawrenceville home.

Lee and Ginger Ragans, who live on Connemara Trace in Lawrenceville, awoke this past Sunday to find vandals had painted swastikas and obscenities on the street and lawn, tossed eggs at windows, draped trees with toilet paper and defecated on their front porch.

"We'd like to thank the Gwinnett police for their quick work," Lee Ragans said.

Ginger Ragans said the incident was the work of neighborhood teens retaliating for her work as liaison to the Community Oriented Policing program. She reported the incident to police as a hate crime.

Arrested Thursday were Adam Stanley Sugg-Jacobs, 17, who lives in the Connemara neighborhood.

Two of the three unidentified juveniles, 15 and 16 years old, also lived in the neighborhood, said Officer Darren Moloney, Gwinnett police spokesman.

The third juvenile, whose age was unknown, lives in Suwanee, Moloney said.

All four were charged with second-degree criminal damage to property and terroristic threats and acts, he said.

Moloney said the decision to try the incident as a hate crime rests with the district attorney.

The three juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.

Sugg-Jacobs was being held without bond Thursday at the Gwinnett County jail.

As the person who posted the original story, I say THANKS for the update because with everything else, I didn't know this had happened! I am sure others who care about hate directed at Jews also appreciate your efforts!

It's no news that's the worst news of all.

I don't know what is happening at DU, but why do the first three posts I read so full of hatred?

So, you think an attack on a Jewish family is funny? Please explain yourself.
