Kerry's response to NOLA Disaster has been amazing, hasn't it?
He sure has shown who the real president is this past week.

I mean, the compassion, the action. He didn't just sit there and watch it all fall apart, he sprung into action the first day and put forth great efforts to save peoples lives.

One thing he has shown in all of this, Kerry knows how to lead.

56. I posted this further down in this stupid thread....
But here it is again.he has also sent out emails to everyone on his national mailing list and has a link set up on his website to donate.

From: http://www.johnkerry.com/

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the citizens of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama as they struggle with the aftermath of this devastating storm, and to their loved ones and families viewing the disturbing photos coming out of the region. I also would like to commend the brave men and women who are leading the rescue operations; from emergency service officers to health care professionals to the power and water crews working around the clock to save lives.

“Hurricane Katrina devastated significant portions of the Gulf Coast and disrupted millions of lives. The situation in New Orleans is heartbreaking.

“We cannot and must not give up on the people left stranded and destitute by this storm. This is a national tragedy and it demands a national response. At home in Massachusetts, citizens and corporations are donating time, money and their expertise to help out and I know the same thing is happening in every state in the country.

“Now is the time for all of us to come together to help our fellow Americans rebuild the communities that have lost so much.

“Elected officials, emergency personnel and incredible volunteers are working round the clock. These emergency workers are heroes.

“While Americans are united and determined to help the people who are suffering, there is no question that we share a collective anguish and frustration over the inadequate response of the federal government over these past several days. Federal officials must act swiftly in coming hours and days to direct more aid to the region as rapidly as possible.

“Last night the Senate allocated $10.5 billion to help fund immediate relief efforts. Although that is a welcome first step, I plan to work in coming days to find more ways that we can help joining with my colleagues in the Senate to support those who have lost so much and those working so hard to help them.

“I am also directing my team at johnkerry.com and my leadership committee Keeping America’s Promise to help. This week we have sent out fundraising appeals for the Red Cross and teamed up to help victims find housing at www.hurricanehousing.org. The response has been incredibly heartening. We will be doing more in coming days as we learn more about the best to provide assistance.

“I just returned from spending the week in Iraq, seeing firsthand the bravery of our troops as they face chaos and destruction. Our country has a huge heart and an incredibly strong spirit. We came together to support of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families, now we will come together to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. We will endure and we will survive but we can’t stop working until we get help to all those left suffering. For more information on how to help, visit FEMA’s website or visit the American Red Cross at www.redcross.org. Thank you for your support for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.”

Statement of John Kerry on Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

For Immediate Release
Washington, DC - Senator John Kerry released the following statement today on Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

54. Um, are you saying Gore coordinated his relief efforts with Kerry?
To my knowledge, the only people Gore coordinated with were involved in the rescue: doctors, medical volunteers, TN local officials, TN hospital administrators, TN relief organizations, American Airlines, the pilot and crew, NOLA officials, FEMA (who jerked him around for a few days before they okayed the flight) and the National Guard folks on the ground in NOLA. Kerry had no Federal role in the disaster relief, it wasn't in his state, there would have been no reason to clear it with him. If Gore coordinated politically with anybody it would have been Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. I don't know that Gore did that, however, since Gore did not want this to be politicized.

Yesterday, Trent Lott said on CNN that John & Teresa Kerry called him to ask how they could help, and Lott told them which airports are open. There weren't any other details, but I assume they asked how to help folks in Mississippi, since Lott doesn't have any Federal role in disaster relief.

(For those who don't know about Gore in NOLA Saturday, see below.)

Haven from fury Mercy Flight Brings Evacuees to ET

Gore accompanies about 140 arrivals from New Orleans but declines to take credit

By ROBERT WILSON

(snip)

About 140 people - mostly elderly and infirm - arrived Saturday at McGhee Tyson Airport on a chartered mercy flight from hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, welcomed to East Tennessee by a bright sun and a host of medical professionals straining at the reins to help their fellow human beings without regard to whether they were on the clock.

The displaced hurricane victims came to Tennessee on a hastily arranged flight, accompanied by doctors and carrying whatever they had in boxes, bags or, in one case, an old suitcase tied up with rope.

Former Vice President Al Gore arranged the flight and was on board, but he declined to take credit for the airlift, fearing it would be "politicized."

You have personally touched me very deeply SR.

48. WTF
People are dying and suffering, Shrub responds to a replacement of the SCOTUS in less than 48 hours, keeping his promise, to bad he didn't keep his promise to the ones suffering in Louisiana.

You start this flamebait post, where the hell are your priorities, you'd rather hit a good Dem with crap like this, then go after the crooks that are killing this country.

Disgusting. :puke:

59. "Good Dem"
BWAHAHAHAHAHA HA HA

Perhaps the congressional black caucus.

As far as Dems in the Senate and House:

....crickets....

As far as "crooks killing this country", you don't have to look far. You may not want to believe this, but me thinks that some of these Dems don't want their "business" disturbed.

Why don't we do the opposite of the Republicans? Refuse to walk in lockstep and criticize when necessary. Do you really tnink that the pugs aren't working on a smear at this moment to deflect blame?

Yeah, being quiet has worked well so far. :sarcasm:

58. Actually, he has .The sarcasm is misplaced. Our "real : president was
in Iraq with the troops instead of sitting on his ass fishing. We still have a problem in Iraq unless you haven't noticed. Kerry posted from Iraq and is flying supplies into LA now that he has returned.Nasty , vidictive posts based on misinformation are counterproducticve. Go after Bush instead. He is murdering people.

64. Lott said that yesterday during an interview
I think the interview was on CNN, but I have been channel surfing so much looking for some hopeful news, that I can't be sure.

Kerry asked Lott what they needed, Lott told him and he is flying in supplies according to Lott's request.
