John and Elizabeth Edwards on CNN Tonight

I tell you guys, the more I learn about Edwards the better I like him. Anybody who Molly Ivins calls a populist has got to be alright in my book. I'd love to see both he and Kucinich get more press. Actually, I'd like to see all the candidates get more press.

Especially with his wife, whom everyone says is a huge asset, and who appears to be pretty politically savy.

I don't watch Zahn, but I've heard some commentary on her pro-RW spinning here at DU. I wonder how she's going to play this.

There are definitely Clinonian implications. I believe the first major joint media appearance with Bill adn Hil was after the Superbowl in 1992. Liberals loved seeing a smart, engaged, professional woman. But the wingers used the event to spin out the anti-feminist crapola (the Tammy Wynette stuff). I wonder what's going to happen tonight.

One of the really interesting things about Elizabeth Edwards is that she had a very successful professional career which she gave up, sort of, to have kids, but only because her first son died. So she has a foot in both worlds -- professional and domestic. And there's an interesting class angle too. I don't think lots of hard-working professional women would have a ton of sympathy for a woman rich enough to have the option of dropping out of professional world to have children, because they don't have the same options. However, it's not like she did it for any other reason than the death of her son.

The whole thing is very fascinating, and I'd love to see how the RW'ers attack her if Edwards gets the nomination. It won't be easy, like it was with Hilary.

She does seem like a whip smart lady. I think, and have repeatedly said, Edwards is going to catch fire soon. If he doesn't get the nomination look for him to get the VP slot. Also, he isn't running for his senate seat again and I don't think the Dem party would want to waste someone with his political skill and potential for the next several years. He'll be part of a Dem administration in some way shape or form. Maybe Attorney General? Somewhere I'm sure.

I always like to see Edwards and his wife is a great lady and usually says all the wonderful things about him that he doesn't say. Paula Zahn seems more ditzy than anything, so hopefully it'll just be a warm and fuzzy piece.
