I Emailed Fox News

This is the text of the email I just sent them a few minutes ago. Do you think they'll read it?

Dear Sir or Madam,

I noticed over the weekend that you've titled the ongoing rescue efforts in the Gulf region as America's Challenge. That title is somewhat appropriate, but America's Challenge goes well beyond the scope of rescue operations in the Gulf region. What the events this past week have done is expose to the world the underlying problem with racism in America.

The challenge we face is not just the rebuilding of the city of New Orleans, or the placement of survivors in Red Cross shelters throughout the United States. America's Challenge is what are we going to do about the problems with racial tension in this country. It has always been there, most of the time underneath the surface of what the world sees on television and in pictures. But this week's events exposed the truth to the world on how we really treat our fellow Americans.

Based on the response time of the government and its agencies, we have to take a good, hard look in the mirror and ask ourselves the following questions: Have we really made progress toward equality since Dr. Martin Luther King led the civil rights movement nearly 40 years ago? Or have we merely paid lip service to blacks all these years when we removed the signs from water fountains and rest rooms? When we served them in the same restaurants whites dine in? Desegregated our public schools?

Living up to the phrase "...and liberty and justice for all," is America's Challenge. What are you as an American citizen going to do to meet that challenge?
