Contact CNN and tell them we are NOT buying the PR campaign
Let them know that Katrina is our priority. That they should stay focused on that. Let them know that we will not allow Bush to pass the buck and blame the Mayor and the Governor for the obvious colossal failure of the Federal Government. Let them know that the "Natural Disaster" was exacerbated because of the "Man-Made" disaster of a response that followed. We must NOT let the media SPIN this disaster for Bush. We must be vigilant and loud. I have written my Rethug Rep and 2 Rethug Senators and I am still writing. Please voice your outrage about this situation. Thank you.

I am POSITIVE the Nagin and Blanco were not responsible for a FEDERAL failure to rescue people in THREE STATES.

WE are not fooled. Another Bush Administration cluster-love experiment in third world governance at first world prices.

Be honest or be irrelevant.

2. Done!
The Bush PR campaign that you are catapulting is sick!

America is about accountability; unless you’re rich then it's about PR.

Serious people are about accountability, with out it more people will die. Do you see the blood on your hands by being the function that catapults his propaganda?

4. Here is what I sent them.
Thank you for your continued coverage of the aftermath of Katrina. I am writing to let you know that there is nothing more important than this issue right now for me and for most Americans. We are not interested in hearing about Justices or Chief Justices or funeral arrangements for Chief Justices. Also, we are not interested in seeing Bush's photo ops. His response is too little too late. He failed! There is no way around this colossal failure of our Federal Government. I am sick of hearing Republicans being interviewed on television saying that what most of America is perceiving is wrong. Most of these Republicans seem to make statements that contradict the facts and deny the reality that most Americans are perceiving. I should hope that CNN will NOT give them the opportunity to deny this failure! It is obvious! I also hope that CNN will NOT allow Bush to blame the local and state governments for HIS OWN FAILURE! I am counting on CNN to continue to cover this issue. I am counting on CNN to remain focused on this issue as nothing is more important right now and for the weeks ahead!

5. Mine was more negative:
PLEASE stop with the Republican spin machine. This is PR, pure and simple. All these people are concerned about is saving as many of their butts as possible.

Get back to REAL reporting and represent the American people! We are OUTRAGED and will not forget the criminal negligence that has resulted in the needless deaths of thousands of our citizens!

This is why bloggers and alternative news sites are quickly making the likes of you irrelevant. You cannot be trusted!

Please keep "reporting" and "investigating." The latest Bush spin of blaming Gov. Blanco is outrageous. Why did he schedule the trip w/out letting her know. This is THE CLUE. He's not serious about helping, only surviving politically.

Please, please, please keep up reporting and investigating.

This is too big to roll over for the Administration.

Thanks

PS. Chertoff failed to take the bait on blaming Blanco, CNN 2:39. Wow, maybe *'s really isolated.

10. Has something changed in their coverage?
I haven't watched CNN (or any TV) today ... except my usual "as I get out of bed in the A.M."

Up until now, CNN has done a pretty good job of highlighting the insufficient FEDERAL response and the massive human suffering(multiple threads encouraging thanking them for their coverage ...)

Have they changed ....?

Marked the "positive" box - hopefully they'll read it.

"Please keep up the good work in reporting on Katrina over the past few days. I have heard that the WH has a plan for this next week:

1. Point the finger to the local governments.
2. Do not respond to criticism.

Please don't buy into this and keep up the good work. NO SPIN, please.

17. I'm not very good at these kinds of things...but here's mine...
I would just like to say that I think what the White House is doing by pushing blame on to the local and state governments for the disaster relief efforts is appauling.

I for one would wish that you guys would come out swinging and show exactly what the leaders in LA and NO did and have done prior to Katrina slamming into the coast, and what the Bush administration hasn't done. Show that they have done press conferences and photo ops while people were dying in the streets.

We are getting two different stories when it comes to who did what. FEMA and Homeland Security are lying to us. Please do not spin this in favor of the Bush administration, they need to be held accountable. It needs to be show that they did nothing but photo ops to make Bush look like a hero, a savior, why do you think the food, water and other supplies just so happend to arrive the "DAY" that Bush made a photo op tour?

This isn't a third world country, this is the United States, Americans are suffering and dying in the streets and all we are getting is excuses, more photo ops, and straight up posturing from the Bush administration.

For once, do your jobs and speak the truth, not the White House, Carl Rove, PR spin, please. I'm not asking you to come out and bash the President, all's I'm asking is that you go back to actual journalism and report on what went wrong and why. Many Americans in this country are tired of the lack of leadership from this administration. We are tired of the lies and lack of holding people accountable. We are tired of them blaming everything on someone else instead of their own incompetence. This has got to stop and you guys could get the ball rolling.

Someone needs to be held accountable, the director of Homeland Security, the Director of FEMA, and the President himself should be shown for what they really are, irresponsible.

19. What's The Use Of A National/Federal Government??
It's known, or should I say the great unknown, as to what kind of damage local infrastructure takes in a serious hurricane. Models are made that consider, in such a strong storm, that the local and county police departments will be all but isolated and the state police will have limited commuications. The force that is set to move in quick and pick up the SLACK is the national guard and other federal sources.

It's been traditional that the federal comes in at the INVITATION of the governor at the onset of the storm or shortly thereafter. This is done in the declaration of a state of emergency and backed by the the federal's issuing of disaster decrees for the areas involved. Not only does this open up the doors for federal manpower, but also federal funding.

If anything, the fact the federal stayed out when it should have been on the ground in some form or fashion once the storm abated...and had the authority to do so...is a shame, but not the biggest one I see happening here.

Remember, what's also at stake is the rebuilding of billions in oil rigs, refineries, port facilities and the river, train and roads. By Blanco turning over control to the Bushitas, it'd open the door for a massive federal bail out of the oil companies in the area...using our tax dollars to rebuild their facilities, and using contractors like Haliburton, KBR and other "special contractors" in digging into what is sure to be endless billions in appropriations rammed through the congress.

In case you did not know, the federal government, through it's own volition, the Bush administration declared itself leaders in national emergencies.

In December 2004, the president approved the National Response Plan (NRP), which provides the rules for emergency response.

This is verbatim from the plan, pg. 33 of 114:

A basic premise of the NRP is that incidents are generally handled at the lowest jurisdictional level possible.

In an Incident of National Significance, the Secretary of Homeland Security,in coordination with other Federal departments and agencies, initiates actions to prevent, prepare for, respond to,and recover from the incident.

Why then, are you not addressing this critical fact?

Why are you allowing propogandization by the Bush administration to supercede the welfare of taxpaying American citizens? How can you allow your news readers to report that there is "bad communication" between agencies like there were claimed to be during 9/11 and let the Bush administration get away with that once again? Hold them accountable.

This tragedy resulted in the culmination of Bush administration policies which continue to prove detrimental to the American public.

Address this dismal failure and the failures to provide funding and heed warning that led to this embarrasing state in our country.

Ask questions that get to the very heart of this catastrophic failure. Do not allow this tragedy to become another round of sound bytes and confusion.

The American public deserves more than that.

The world deserves more than that from American.

We all deserve the truth. Our lives depend on it.
