Operation Google Bomb for Truth
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 03:26 PM by me b zola
In a thread in LBN it was mentioned that the rethugs are google bombing a story that slimes James Lee Witt, calling him a liar.

At different times it comes to the top as the most googled story.

We must counter this with a google bomb for truth!!

We currently do not have sig lines, so I will provide a link to a good story of James Lee Witt from WAPO:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/04/AR2005090401169.html

If everyone could do several hits to this story it will help. Also, if you would keep this thread kicked, more people will be able to join the effort. :)

COUNTER THE LIES WITH THE TRUTH!!!

24. Must Go Through Google
They count the link clicks from *their* page. When someone does a search, the most popular sites come up in ranking order, an order not determined by link clicks only btw.

If we want to influence the order in which the pages are displayed there are four ways of going about this, that I know of, limited as my knowledge is (quite limited!).

One can pay their way onto Google.

Get friendly sites to link to the page in question (the more links to the page, from *other* sites, the higher the google placement).

Put meta tags into your page, popular keywords and such, but this doesn't work until you have Google actually crawling through the site in question already. What I mean is just 'cause a website exists doesn't mean that it will *ever* make the Google search list.

If the proprietor pays their way on, if other sites already listed (and crawled/archived) list the new page/site and by wisely picking the appropriate meta tag keywords, this is how most sites end up listed.

Now, IF those wing-bats have hijacked a listing and put it up on top and we want to replace it with another, the fourth way is that we need to go *through* Google, doing a search, picking a specific site and then mass clicking it enough to influence it's popularity, which Google tracks by link clicks (in addition to site friendly linking as mentioned above).

As I said before, I am not an expert in the field. Just sharing the knowledge I developed while trying to get my churches website not only listed on Google but one of the first five links. Statistics show that if ya don't get listed in the first ten links, most people never get to ya! Know what I mean?

Wexler Calls for FEMA Director's Resignation
Letter to President Requests Brown's Dismissal for Fraudulent Payments Made by FEMA After Hurricane

(Washington, DC) - Today, Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) sent the following letter to President George Bush requesting that he immediately remove Michael Brown from his position as head of the Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Under Secretary Brown's agency disbursed over $30 million in disaster relief money, which was allocated to over 10,000 Miami-Dade claimants after Hurricane Frances, which made landfall more than 100 miles away and there was no more than a heavy rainstorm. According to several news accounts by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, "FEMA has written checks to cover new wardrobes, cars, lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners, furniture and thousands of televisions, microwave ovens, stoves, air conditioners and other appliances." In addition, the Sun-Sentinel sites that FEMA paid $4,500 for one resident's funeral, even though the county medical examiner recorded no storm-related deaths. Another Sun-Sentinel article stated that two residents received aid for "dental treatments due to dental injuries received during the disaster." In six other cases, FEMA reimbursed residents for damage caused by "ice/snow."

On Monday, January 11, FEMA held a news conference acknowledging that they made $12 million in overpayments to 3,500 individuals - blaming these overpayments on a "computer glitch." FEMA, however, continues to deny additional systematic problems and cites the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA) to prove that there were legitimate hurricane conditions in Miami-Dade. Yet, according to the Sun-Sentinel, NOAA has refuted the weather maps FEMA claims to have obtained from them. As the head of FEMA, Under Secretary Brown oversees federal disaster response and recovery operations, and it is negligent of him to refuse to accept responsibility for its agency mistakes.

"Rather than taking responsibility for FEMA's mishaps and moving expeditiously to correct the problems, Under Secretary Brown has further undermined his agency's reputation by stymied investigations and inquiries into fraud allegations. FEMA's massive misallocation of recovery aid is a gross waste of taxpayer monies, which must be immediately addressed by the Bush Administration," Wexler said.

19. Bush PRAISED Witt during the Gore debates! Another link:
BUSH: You know, as governor, one of the things you have to deal with is catastrophe. I can remember the fires that swept Parker County, Texas. I remember the floods that swept our state. I remember going down to Del Rio, Texas. I have to pay the administration a compliment. James Lee Witt of FEMA has done a really good job of working with governors during times of crisis.

22. Bombed with love!
If you are wondering if I have gone off the deep end - yes, but not because of my subject line. I rented a DVD on Netflix a few months back that turned out to be a bizarre made for TV movie about a "Christian" cult that was anti-war (70's) - and the chanted "Bomb with love! Bomb with love! Bomb with love!"

It just seemed appropriate for this mission.

:)
