BUSH: "Mississippi is on my mind! I UNDERSTAND the damage!"

THE PRESIDENT: (In progress) -- out of this despair is going to come a vibrant coast. It's -- again, I understand if you're saying to yourself, well, it's hard for me to realize what George W is saying because I've seen the rubble and I know what has happened to my neighbors. But I'd like to come back down here in about two years and walk your streets and see how vital this part of the world is going to be.

I can't wait to join you in the joy of welcoming neighbors back into neighborhoods, and small businesses up and running, and cutting those ribbons that somebody is creating new jobs. That's what I think is going to happen.

I just want you to know that when I'm thinking about how we can help this part of the world, Mississippi is on my mind. Mississippi is a part of the future of this country, and part of that future is to help you get back up on your feet. And I'm confident that your United States senator Trent Lott, if I don't say it loud enough, he will. (Laughter.) He'll remind us. But I appreciate you taking time out of your day. And by the way, I'm traveling with good company. My wife, Laura, is with me, too. I want to -- (Applause.)

So let me conclude by asking for God's blessings on you all, and your families and friends, and let you know we're here for the long term. I understand. I understand the damage. I understand the devastation. I understand the destruction. I understand how long it's going to take. And we're with you. That's what I want you to know. God bless. (Applause.)

22. M - I - S
S - I - S
S - I - P - P - I!
It used to be so hard to spell
it used to make me cry
But since I've studied spelling
it's easier than pie, so
M - I - S
S - I - S
S - I - P - P - I!

Oh but this whole country is full of lies
You're all gonna die and die like flies

This is a show tune
But the show hasn't been written for it, yet....

It is being written now, Nina, I think.

'george, they think you don't understand what's really happened there'. "I UNDERSTAND the devastation". 'George, don't do that comment about Lott again, they could give a shit if his mansion is rebuilt' "Trent Lott, if I don't say it loud enough".

He's an idiot. He's fucking american idiot.

30. Time for another * vacation....
President Bush began his second trip to the region since the storm hit, landing in Baton Rouge late in the morning to start another inspection tour and consultations with federal and local officials.

"All levels of the government are doing the best they can," Bush said in Baton Rouge. "So long as any life is in danger, we've got work to do."

Traffic began moving into the parish west of New Orleans at about 6 a.m. A curfew was set for 6 p.m., and residents were told they could stay until Wednesday.

32. More Than 55,000 Vietnamese Americans Affected by Katrina
I doubt that these people are in your cold calculations. You are indifferent and vicious george bush as is the cadre of vampires and hooligans in your admin. who hold the real power

More than 70 Vietnamese Feared Dead in Empire, Mississippi

According to Mr. Phan Bao, who wrote to Viet Bao newspaper, “Just within one small group of people who lived in Buras and Empire area of Mississippi, there are more than 70 who died. It’s an area where the Mississippi river pours into the Gulf of Mexico, about 2 hours south of New Orleans.” It’s so far south and remote, “It’s why nobody bothered to come and rescue and that’s why there’s no news of what happened there.”

<>

More than 55,000 Vietnamese Americans have been affected by Katrina. The majority worked in the fishing industry. If only one small community loses more than 70 people to the hurricane – many are divers, many worked as ship builders – it is not difficult to imagine the over all number of Vietnamese who died will be in the hundreds. And, hoopefully, it will not be in the thousands.

33. Fuck him and his piousy platitude bullshit. He's incapable of responding
to suffering in any real way. He was TOLD to make all these appearances by Rove to save his ass from sinking approval ratings. This fuckwad couldn't come up with an original idea if he was wanted to, Rove even tells him when to pick his nose. I hate them all.

Under the command of President Bush's two senior political advisers, the White House rolled out a plan this weekend to contain the political damage from the administration's response to Hurricane Katrina.

It orchestrated visits by cabinet members to the region, leading up to an extraordinary return visit by Mr. Bush planned for Monday, directed administration officials not to respond to attacks from Democrats on the relief efforts, and sought to move the blame for the slow response to Louisiana state officials, according to Republicans familiar with the White House plan.

The effort is being directed by Mr. Bush's chief political adviser, Karl Rove, and his communications director, Dan Bartlett. It began late last week after Congressional Republicans called White House officials to register alarm about what they saw as a feeble response by Mr. Bush to the hurricane, according to Republican Congressional aides.

As a result, Americans watching television coverage of the disaster this weekend began to see, amid the destruction and suffering, some of the most prominent members of the administration - Richard B. Myers, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Donald H. Rumsfeld, the secretary of defense; and Condoleezza Rice, the secretary of state - touring storm-damaged communities.

They may fool others, but they don't fool me.

It's like a god damn broken record. "I understand, people gotta know, people gotta understand." He's been repeating this crap for five years and the only reason I can think of for it is that it's obvious even to him that he doesn't get it. He doesn't understand and he never will.
