12. Police chief was outraged, really i thought he was gonna pull out his gun
on stage...

he was pissed at the media for interviewing a few cowards, as he put it, instead of showing all the heroic stuff the NOPD was doing the last few days. He gave some harrowing stories, about suicides, infections, sleeping in the streets. also praised Nagin, jackson on now.

hope they replay that bit, it was quite powerfull.

8. Sorry, DU is very slow now.
He was basically defending NO police performance through all of this. He was telling about people they were trying to rescue who shot at them. They were using their own boats, implying there was no outside help.

Rev. Jackson saying something about rejecting mass relief and mass evacuation.

Then CNN cuts the feed. Nuts.

13. He was detailing what the NO police were doing WITHOUT
help for 5 days. He is furious at the media focusing in on "a few cowards" and not on the heroic efforts performed by all the rest of his people, the rescues, etc. It was an excellent rant, imo.

14. Chief: we slept on the streets, we had no rest rooms, we had
people shooting at us while trying to rescue people. We had officers using their own boats. Yes, we had a few COWARDS (Said with great disdain) who walked away, but we shoud be focusing on the HEROIC efforts of those who did their jobs. He was visibly angry and it was very powerful! :applause:

15. The NO police who were involved in this are true heros. We heroized
evey NYC policeman (and rightly so) after 9/11. The scale of this catastrophe makes these police as much and maybe even more heroic. My heart goes out to them.

those brave officers, what they went through, I support the police chief - that must have been hell for them. They should be given medals at a minimum

and I am so so sorry for those officers that killed themselves, and thier familes & friends, so awful, no help for them in time.:cry: :cry:
