ROVE: "turn the discussion to what the government is doing now"
White House Enacts a Plan to Ease Political Damage directed by Karl Rove, and Dan Bartlett.

Orchestrating visits by cabinet members to the region directed administration officials not to respond to attacks from Democrats on the relief efforts, and sought to move the blame for the slow response to Louisiana state officials.

It began late last week after Congressional Republicans called White House officials to register alarm about what they saw as a feeble response by Mr. Bush to the hurricane, according to Republican Congressional aides.

Bush returning to Louisiana and Mississippi on Monday; his first visit, on Friday, left some Republicans cringing, in part because the president had little contact with residents left homeless.

Example, administration officials who went on television on Sunday were instructed to avoid getting drawn into exchanges about the problems of the past week, and to turn the discussion to what the government is doing now. (Karl, you're sooo yesterday)

2. He's been trying that since Sunday, and it ain't workin"!
Rove told Chertoff to completely avoid any discussion of what did or didn't happen and concentrate on what we're doing NOW! That's exactly what Chertoff did, on EVERY SUN SHOW!

It's NOT working! Wonder what he'll try next????

5. You mean like ignoring the grief of our nation at the death of THOUSANDS
of Americans to push the appointment of a crony to the Supreme Court and the 'need' to pass repeal of the inheritance tax? (And we know what happened when Bush appointed a crony to the Department of Homeland Security!)

Yeah, they've reformed. :sarcasm:

Rove, there's a very special place in hell created just for you. I hope you enjoy it there with all your little friends.

7. Over 10,000 people died AFTER THE STORM PASSED
Everyone who died in the floods was an unnecessary death that BushCo is responsible for, not the storm.

On Monday, Mayor Nagin requested Black Hawk helicopters for the 17th Street Levee that was starting to breach. Nagin told them he had sandbags, he just needed helicopters. HS/FEMA said that the copters would be sent but they never showed up. The levee breached and New Orleans was lost. Thousands of people were killed within hours.

8. Rove's a slick SOB. he's applied everything that went wrong with
watergate, scientifically designed/figured how to use attack/smear campaigns, to ruin/destoy anyone some people stopped breathing type tactics.

I wonder what he has planned for Fitzgerald, that's the 64 dollar question...!

11. Why? When Bushco trots out 9-11 every time they need a boost in the polls?
Only in RoveWorld can Bush take one of his biggest failures and use it for years as a mantra to justify their agenda.

Once again, Bushco tries to revise history even as it's being made.

But Karl, what y'all are doing NOW still isn't enough. There are places FEMA and assistance has not yet gotten to, not just in NO and LA, but in the other Gulf states also hit by the storm.

But even after the administration went "D'oh" and started posing for the cameras this weekend, there still isn't aid everywhere it needs to be. All they did was ship out the folks in the NOLA Convention Ctr and Superdome (days late) to get the focus off that, scattering the victims/witnesses all over the country and then pat themselves on the back again for the cameras. The Bushco Hugathon road show isn't playing all that well...especially while folks are still being fished out of the floodwaters and off rooftops while corpses bob by. Great images, tributes to the Bushco.

All the photo ops and the talking heads won't bring back those who died waiting for rescue while your little prince was eating cake and strumming a guitar without a care in the world. Not that you care, but surprisingly, many Americans do.

12. I would think THAT is the last thing piece of shit Rove would want
His whole method of operation has always been to distract from what the government/bushco is actually doing.

I look forward to the day he is gone for good

14. Having so many dead, takes it beyond the spin level. Rove and Bush
get ready for 2006 and then, impeachment.
