This Arnold sex scandal is really catching on fire
I could see him losing a lot of the vote for this. People have been hearing about the nazi stuff...when you combine that with a sex scandal it might be too much to overcome.

Maybe Davis won't be out after all. I can't see any Dems voting for McClintock instead.

1. It will be interesting
to see if this has any effect. But maybe if it had come out sooner, it could have been publicized more??

3. It WAS in the UK Guardian
as we all know here at DU. I would email that to people I knew who would discredit it. But now that it's all over the USA media people can now accept it. Strange but true.

5. I think the timing is GREAT
People will be going in to vote while this story is still fresh in the media. It seems to me like every cable network and major newspaper will be beating this thing to death for the next few days.

12. Timing is suspect

Could backfire. For some reason, Democrats aren't allowed to get away with dirty tricks the same way the Repubs can. That's how this whole thing is percieved - engineered or not.

What it's really going to come down to is turnout - and yes - the bad publicity could weigh in favor of Davis, since Arnie supporters have two more reasons to not go to the polls.

13. agreed
if the Dems. planted it, then I think they waited too long. If it was all the media then it is dumb luck because I agree that it looks like last minute games even though it probably isn't.

2. I don't know
The people who have made up their minds to vote for him seem unfazed and are buying the "Gray Davis smear tactic " story.

6. You know I think that is true
During that whole Anita Hill thing, I learned of several stories from older women who had had something like that happen to them. One was molested at the doctor, a couple by neighbors as teen-agers and so on. I am amazed to think of how many people I know of both sexes that have experienced one of these incidents.

7. You sound like it's something unusual.
Good heavens, watch your old movies. Look at the male female behavior that was considered NORMAL.

9. According to this new poll, Arnold has PICKED UP votes
* BY MORE THAN 2:1, CALIFORNIANS ACCEPT ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER'S APOLOGY FOR REPEATED
INAPPROPRIATE TOUCHING OF WOMEN, ACCORDING TO SURVEYUSA POLL OF 658 ADULTS STATEWIDE
WHO ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE ACCUSATIONS CONTAINED IN TODAY'S LOS ANGELES TIMES.

* 68% SAY SCHWARZENEGGER HAS SAID ENOUGH; 29% SAY HE HAS MORE EXPLAINING TO DO.
* 58% SEE REVELATIONS AS ATTEMPT TO 'SMEAR' SCHWARZENEGGER, COMPARED TO 39% WHO SAY THE
REPORTS RAISE SERIOUS QUESTIONS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY CANDIDATE BEFORE 10/7.

* AT FIRST COUNT, SCHWARZENEGGER APPEARS TO LOSE FEW IF ANY VOTES OVER THE CHARGES.
* VAST MAJORITY DO NOT PLAN TO VOTE DIFFERENTLY UPON HEARING NEWS. OF THOSE WHO CHANGED
MINDS, 10% MOVED AWAY FROM ARNOLD, BUT 12% WERE NEWLY DRAWN TO HIM. NET-NET: A WASH.

Also of those who have changed their vote over the scandal, 10% who were for Arnold are now not. But 12% who were not for Arnold, now like him more. Go figure

and I suspect a LOT MORE people will be voting in it now because of this.

15. No surprise, here.
The poll may not be scientific in the strictest sense, but I suspect it's on the money. As I have said, Ah-nuld will win BIG, because enough mindless voters LIKE him. And I suspect that right now he is polling lower than his real number is.

Remember the DUI revelation that hit GWB days before the 2000 catastrophe?? It didn't really faze him. Voters LIKED him more than Gore, and that was that.

10. Tie the scandals together
We need to tie all these scandals together as a total failure of ethics in the Republican party.
